Lets go tell mommy she stinks!

The other day I heard Wyatt tell Hallee that they should come tell me that I stink.  Wyatt ran in and said, "you stink mom."  Hallee ran in behind him and said, "mommy stinks."  They both laughed hysterically and ran out.  They did this over and over again and thought it was the funniest thing ever!
Hallee is growing up so fast.  She is talking all the time now and seems like a little girl instead of my baby.  She surprised me today, when she saw an orange car she said, "hi orange, bye orange."  She watches a Baby Einstein about colors so she must have picked it up there.  Who says TV isn't good for kids!
Hallee is very high maintenance.  She always has something to say and she demands that I listen.  She will say it over and over again until I repeat it back to her.  This is very tricky because I don't always know what she is saying, but she won't stop until I repeat it back.
She went to nursery again just fine this week.  She loves to play outside and she loves to color.  She is not a home body, she likes to be out doing things.  More and more I can see the similarities between her personality and Jonah's.
She loves to make people laugh, especially her brothers and sisters.  She is shy with people at first, but she will warm up when they give her some attention.  Mel picked her up at Sam's Club yesterday to help me out and she ended up laying on Mel's shoulder through the store.  I couldn't believe she was just sitting still and letting Mel hold her.  I might have been a little jealous!  Hallee loves to dance.  Whenever she hears music she yells, "mom, dance" and starts dancing around.  She loves to hold the hymn book at church and she says, "prayers" and folds her arms after every hymn.  It is so fun to see her discover new things and learn new words.
Wyatt has been doing a little bit better with throwing fits. Keith is very patient with him and he responds well to Keith.  I don't do as well at staying patient.  Wyatt is a very imaginative child.  He is always coming up with new games to play and pretending to do different things.  We watch a show that sings different songs and he loves "The Muffin Man."  He now pretends to be the muffin man. Here he is with his hair cap on and his giant oven behind him.  He is making me muffins all day.  Wyatt can write his name now and he is so proud of it.  Wyatt likes to get out, but he is okay staying home too.  He always wants to know what time things are happening.  He always asks me what time morning is and what o'clock dad will get home.  Wyatt is a very social kid.  He loves to make new friends at the park and he will walk up and talk to them without a problem.  I love that he will also play alone though.  He has no problem playing on his own if other kids aren't playing what he wants to play.  He wants to do everything on his own and gets so mad if someone does something for him.  He is such a fun kid and always makes me laugh.
Jonah is not a home body.  He likes to be out doing things all of the time.  His behavior has been so much better lately.  He can be the sweetest boy when he wants to be.  He had another night terror the other night.  I started thinking about him hanging off the rock when we were hiking and it sunk in how scary it was. He slid down the rock on his back and luckily he grabbed the rock with his hands while they were behind his back.  He was just hanging there and he could see that he was going off the ledge if he let go.  Luckily, I was there and got up there quick to get him off, but it could have been really bad.  I think he had some extra help up there and Heavenly Father was watching out for him.  Anyway, that night he woke up screaming.  It is really scary because he screams out like he is in pain and then he will fall asleep for a couple of seconds and then scream out again.  I took him upstairs and tried to calm him down, but he just kept screaming out.  He says things that don't make sense, but he can answer questions that we ask, so it is really strange.  Keith woke up too so we both kept talking to him until he was all the way awake.  He told us it was really scary that day on the rock.   We got him calmed down and Keith gave him a blessing and he was able to go back to sleep.  The next morning he told me that he had a nightmare that me and Keith died and he had to go live with witches.  Poor kid!
Jonah has done great in school this year.  He continues to amaze me with how smart he is.  He is doing so well with French and everything just seems to click with him.  He is such a fun boy and can always make us laugh.  He is so sweet with Hallee and with Wyatt most of the time.  He loves to play sports and play with his cousins and friends.  Jonah is such a great kid and so much fun to be around.
Caitlyn was so excited to get her braces off today.  Here is the before picture.
Here is the after picture.  She is such a beautiful girl! They gave her that blue bag with a bunch of candy in it.  She was one happy girl.  Once she gets all of her permanent teeth in she will have to have a full set of braces.  We had to do this first set just to make room for all of her teeth.
Caitlyn is the sweetest little girl I know.  She is so socially mature.  She always knows the right thing to say to people to make them feel good.  She is so sensitive to people's feelings.  She is such a good girl and really wants to do the right thing.  She is so funny and loves to laugh.  She is still very obsessive.  A couple of weeks ago she was obsessed with basketball.  That is all she talked about and she played it at recess and after school every day.  She even checked a book out about it at the library.  It is so funny to see her obsessions.
She has done great this year in school.  She had the hardest spelling words last week and she did great with them.  I couldn't spell them or even pronounce a few of them.  She has done really well with math this year.  She is still a great reader, but we are having a hard time finding books that she is interested in.  I'm hoping she will push herself this summer and find some more challenging books that she will enjoy.  Caitlyn needs a lot of hugs and encouragement from us.  Physical touch is definitely one of her love languages.  Caitlyn is such a big help to me.  She loves to jump in and help with Hallee.  She is such a great girl!

Salt Lake Overlook

We hiked the Salt Lake Overlook today.  I should be relaxing, but I have a hard time relaxing until I catch up on pictures!  Me, mom and dad were the only adults this year.
Dad lead the group and Jonah wanted to be right behind him.  Jonah did a great job of keeping up.
Caitlyn wanted to come, but I kept telling her that she couldn't complain.  She did awesome and didn't complain at all on the way up.  Amarie was a little nervous at first so Caitlyn stayed back with her and grandma.
Remember when I was talking about all of the energy I had last week?  Well that is gone!  I had a hard time on the hike.  It is always depressing to see how out of shape I am.  I was having a hard time breathing so I borrowed Dante's inhaler.  Elevation brings on my asthma.  I was totally fine going down, but going up I could feel my chest tightening.  Anyway, I took it slow, but I made it to the top.  I don't think I was too far behind the girls, but the boys had to wait for a while.
I was tired, but I made it up these rocks in record time when Jonah was screaming and crying for help.  He climbed on the side of the rock and was holding onto this flat rock with his hands, but his feet were dangling on the edge and he was terrified.  Elijah was helping him, but I think if Jonah fell he would have taken Elijah with him. I raced up there and got him off.  It was scary!  Hopefully Jonah learned a lesson from that one.
Caitlyn twisted her ankle on the way down so she had a hard time going down.  I fell and twisted my ankle too.  It was really hurting at first, but I was able to make it down just fine.  It was pretty swollen when I took my shoe off.  I ended up carrying Caitlyn down as much as I could.  I would carry her for a little while and then let her walk a little. EJ was so nice and offered to giver her a piggy back ride.   Some nice lady stopped and gave us an ace bandage. I love nice people!  She seems to be okay now.  I wasn't loving it on the way up, but I'm glad we did it.  After the hike the cousins all divided up to play together and then we are heading back to mom's for a barbecue.  It has been a fun weekend!

I think I'm going to outgrow my hair!

Caitlyn told me she wants to outgrow her hair, I'm pretty sure she meant grow out her hair!  This weekend has been so nice.  We didn't have any plans, but we have ended up doing a lot of fun things.  On Saturday we met up with the Becks for a movie.
The kids were so excited.  We almost took up a whole row!  I ended up standing in the back for most of it with Hallee.  She does not like to be restrained so she had to walk around.  At one point she went right in front of the screen and she wasn't coming back so I finally went to find her and she was begging some lady for popcorn.  That was a little embarrassing.
Saturday was rainy, but when we came out of the theater it was perfect weather.  We found a park nearby and got some pizzas for dinner.
The kids all had a blast.
Luckily no one fell off the monkey bars!
We had a great time playing and visiting.  We had a lot to catch up on, it has been too long!
On Sunday we went over to visit Pat for her birthday.
The kids were excited to go feed the ducks.
Hallee fed the ducks this time instead of eating all of the bread herself.  She was so excited to see them eat the bread she threw.
All of the kids pretended to sleep on rocks.  Funny kids!
You have to have a treat when you go to grandma's house!
After we played outside the kids all played house together for a while.  I couldn't believe they were all playing together without fighting.  It was great!  Keith and I were able to visit with his parents while they played.  It was a fun night!

The Beach

I have felt so happy and energetic this week.  I can't explain it, but I haven't felt worried and stressed or depressed.  I wouldn't say I am depressed all of the time, but it is always there a little bit.  The best thing has been the energy.  I have exercised every day this week and still had energy left to clean the house, mow the lawn and play with the kids.  I can't remember the last time I have felt this good.  Maybe it was that awesome weekend I had with my siblings last weekend, whatever it is I hope it continues.  Anyway, I have been feeling like I want to get out this week.  We thought about camping this weekend, but that didn't work out so we decided to head over to Herriman to the reservoir yesterday afternoon.
The kids were so excited.  It turned out to be a cold, windy afternoon, but we decided to go anyway.  It is such a fun place.  The kids loved playing on the play ground and in the sand and water.
When we got there it was freezing.  Hallee was shivering, but she didn't want to stop playing.  The other kids didn't seem to mind.  The good news is we pretty much had the place to ourselves!
Caitlyn was the only one who wanted to go in the water.  After a while the wind died down and then it was a perfect temperature.  It was too cold to swim, but it was great weather to play.
Jonah wanted to make a little pool for Hallee and Wyatt.
Caitlyn was the only one who would go in the water so she was in charge of filling up the bucket.
After a while Wyatt decided he wanted to get water too.
Wyatt and Hallee were in heaven playing in the sand.  It was so fun to watch them.
Oh man, I love these two!  Poor Hallee was so cold and the only thing I had in the car was a t-shirt.  I figured that was better than nothing.
Hallee had fun dumping water.  I had to stand right next to her to make sure she didn't dump it on herself.
It was such a nice night.  I had Wyatt take a nap so he could stay up later so we weren't rushed at all.  It is amazing what a difference it makes when you are not on a schedule or rushed.  We just let the kids call the shots and we played whatever they wanted to.
We packed a picnic dinner so the kids would play and then stop and eat.  Hallee kept saying, "I play." We had to feed Hallee and Wyatt at home because they wouldn't stop to eat.
When it warmed up Caitlyn talked Jonah into swimming with her.
It was so funny to watch them because they were trying to push each other in the water.  I love seeing them play and laugh together.
Jonah ended up falling in first.  Caitlyn kept telling him that they would both go under on the count of three and then she would stay up while he went under.  They had so much fun, but they were freezing when they came out of the water.
It was nice to have some family time.  It seems like we have been too busy lately and we all needed this.
Hallee started throwing rocks in the water and she thought it was so fun.  She kept saying, "I want more rock, splash."
The kids wanted to walk down the beach and we found a spot with a lot of rocks so they all had fun throwing rocks in the water.  After we had been there a couple of hours it started raining a little bit and we decided it was time to go.  I think we will be going back here a lot this summer.

Jonah's 1st grade program

Tuesday was Jonah's end of the year program.  He did awesome!
He knew all of the songs and looked so grown up!
He is very serious when he performs.  Jonah's behavior has been so much better the last couple of weeks.  He hasn't got in any trouble in school and has actually been recognized for doing good things at school.  He has been behaving a lot better at home too.  We have been piling on the praise and positive attention in hopes that he will learn that it is a lot better than negative attention.  I was telling Keith last night that he just seems to be happier and less burdened lately.
Here he is whistling.  Jonah is looking so grown up lately.  He sure is a good looking kid!
Jonah was happy that grandma was able to come watch him.
We are so glad that Keith can get away from work for these things.
Caitlyn was home sick that day so we left Hallee home napping and Caitlyn and Wyatt stayed home and played games while we were gone.  We took Jonah over to Sonic to get an ice cream and we grabbed drinks for everyone since it was happy hour.  It was fun to have some one-on-one time with Jonah.  He was happy that he got to get checked out of school early!
