Easter 2023

These guys had fun dying Easter Eggs.
Wyatt and Hallee were up early on Sunday morning so we let them find their Easter baskets.
Hallee was excited when she saw the big sloth in the closet.
I think they were both pretty happy with their baskets.
Hallee and I saw these Dr. Pepper peeps when we were shopping and we knew that we had to get them for Wyatt.
After they found their baskets we let Hallee and Wyatt find their money eggs.
Caitlyn had enough time before church to find her basket. She was excited for more painting supplies.
Hallee and I have been shopping for a new dress for her performance in May.  We found this cute one and she wore it on Easter.  She was excited to have a new dress and sandals for Easter.
We had time for a few family selfies before church.  I love how they turned out.
I'm not sure why I was giving Jonah this look, ha! They only held sacrament meeting on Easter.  It was a very Christ centered service.  I love Easter. I love focusing on Christ and all He has done for us.  I love the symbolism in spring time of new life.  This winter has been so long and so dreary, that it made Easter all the more exciting and symbolic.  Darkness will always give way to light because of Christ, but sometimes it feels like the darkness sticks around for a long time! I'm so grateful that we can always find Hope in Christ.
Jonah found his Easter basket after church.
We all played games together which makes me so happy.  We taught the kids a new game that Paul had taught us.  It is really fun.
After that I went over to the High School and watched Jonah kick field goals.  He wants to be the kicker on the football team next year so he has been practicing a lot.  He got a tee in his Easter basket and he was excited to try it out.  The weather was great, so I loved enjoying the sunshine and watching my boy.  He did great, he has a powerful kick.
We invited mom and dad and Lindy over for dinner. I had to laugh when I looked over and saw dad petting Jackson.  Dad is not a fan of dogs, but he said Jackson was fine when I offered to get him off and then he just pet him. This is not a picture I ever thought I would see!
Caitlyn loved having Lindy here.  Caitlyn loved talking to Lindy about Cayden because she understood and is going through some of the same things with Blake.  We love having Lindy back in Provo.
We had an Easter lesson before dinner.  I asked my kids the week before to share their testimonies of Christ.  I started off by sharing mine and then we went around the room.  Hallee said that she loves Jesus and is grateful to know that no matter what she goes through, she has someone who understands her and she is grateful for that.  Wyatt talked about Jesus being a good example and that he was grateful that we can follow His example in all things.  Jonah talked about when John the Baptist died and that Jesus must have been very sad to lose his cousin so he went off alone.  People followed him and he ended up teaching them and then feeding them miraculously with five loaves and two fishes.  Jonah said he really liked that because it helps him realize that he needs to serve more, even when he is going through hard times.  Caitlyn talked about her friends saying that they don't like the church because of the people or things the prophet says and she said that she is so grateful that she isn't reliant on people or even the prophet, that she has a testimony of Jesus Christ and that is why she does the things she does and believes in the gospel.  Keith talked about losing his two brothers and feeling comforted in knowing that Christ is his brother and He will always be there for him.  Lindy talked about how grateful she is for her testimony of Jesus Christ and how it makes her life so much better.  She talked about just wanting to share that with everyone on her mission because it has helped her so much and brought her so much joy.  Mom talked about missing her mom and Jen and knowing that they are together and that we will see them again.  Dad shared some insights on the Atonement of Jesus Christ that he has gained over the  years.  He told about a neat experience he had as bishop that taught him how much the Holy Ghost can strengthen us and about the enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  Everyone's testimony was beautiful.  We are all so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ.  I ended with a scene from the Chosen where Christ heals the woman with the issue of blood.  That scene is probably my favorite from the whole series.  At one point Christ says to her, "you have been dealing with this for twelve years, you must be exhausted."  That hits me hard because that is how I feel dealing with depression. It is exhausting and I can picture Christ saying that to me and how healing that is. I heard something on a podcast that I really liked.  He said that every week we should think about Christ's question to the woman, "who touched me?" when we take the sacrament.  Every week we should all acknowledge that we need to touch Him and be healed and forgiven.  Taking the sacrament each week is a great way to make sure we are making the Atonement of Jesus Christ part of our lives every day.  The whole lesson was beautiful and powerful and I hope it touched my kids the way it touched me.
We had a great dinner.  It was so good! I was proud of myself for making it, cooking isn't my strength, but it was good! I felt bad that mom couldn't eat.  I made her some potato soup that she likes and we even blended up some Jell-O that she ate for dessert.  After dinner we visited for a while and then mom and dad headed home.  Lindy played games with us for a while before we took her home.  It was a great Easter!

Spring Break

Spring break felt more like Winter break at the beginning of the week. It snowed so much! It just snowed and snowed on Monday and Tuesday.  It is so depressing to still be dealing with snow storms. We are all ready for some Spring weather.
We didn't have anything planned for Spring break so we were glad that the Barth's were in town.
We loved hanging out with them all week!
On Wednesday I took Hallee and Wyatt to grandma and grandpa's to help clean.  Grandma had already done most of the cleaning, but the kids were able to mop the floor. Mom is healing and feeling better as time goes on.  Last week I went with mom and dad to her appointment and she was able to get her jaw unwired.  She was more than ready to get rid of those wires.
Keith took the kids to the new Mario movie.  I was excited to have the house to myself for a bit!
On Saturday we went to mom and dad's for an Easter Egg hunt.
Caitlyn and Jonah couldn't come, but Wyatt and Hallee had fun and got tons of candy.
The kids had fun sorting their money and candy.
Grandma always makes things so fun for the kids.
The ladies visited in the kitchen and the boys had fun playing a game that Rockwell brought. It was really hard to see everyone's vacation pictures during Spring break while we were home in the snow! Social media is hard because it really makes it seem like everyone is doing fun things all of the time. It's been way too long since I have been at the beach! We did have a nice Spring break though, it was nice to have a relaxed week without rushing to anything.  Jonah and Caitlyn kept busy with work and friends.

Life Lately

Jonah has been enjoying playing soccer again and I love watching him.  He plays forward and he does a great job.
Most of the games have been freezing.  Keith and I freeze in the stands.  Last week Jonah had two games.  The one on Tuesday was warm and beautiful and the one on Thursday was freezing! You never know what weather you are going to get in Spring in Utah.
Wyatt and Dallin teamed up and did Kuwait for their country project.
I've been putting off getting Wyatt into the orthodontist until we were finished with Hallee's first round of braces, but we couldn't wait any longer.  His teeth don't have room to come in.  I still don't quite understand why the kids get two sets of braces, but they always convince me it's a good idea.  Wyatt is on his final round!
Jonah sent me these before and after pictures the other day.  These are six months apart.  He has been lifting weights every day and he is pretty proud of his results.  I'm proud of him for working hard and being consistent.  I know it isn't easy to go lift after two hours of soccer practice.
Jonah is much happier when he is busy and active.  Maddox goes to the gym with him so that makes it more fun.
I was scrolling through headlines the other day and I noticed Jonah in a headline for the Deseret News.  Ian took him to the Jazz game last weekend.  It was the last home game and it ended up being a great game.  Jonah is behind the orange Gatorade cooler.
You could see Jonah on the Jazz Instagram account too.  Ky was in town and stayed at our house Friday night and was able to go with him, Maddox and Ian.  It was a great day for Jonah.  I'm glad he got one last game in this season.
Hallee begs to play with Tessa every weekend.  They made these cute stick people. They turned out so cute.
I have enjoyed the warm weather this week and gone out walking on the trail. The sunshine does wonders for your mood and mental health.
I love that Jackson snuggles up with me and Hallee when we read at night.
I have ordered and sent back lots of clothes trying to find clothes Jonah was happy with for prom.  We finally have the outfit.  Jonah likes it, so I'm not sure why he is making that face, probably because he didn't want me to take a picture.
We had fun going out to dinner and playing games with Tiff, Paul, Katie and Ben.
Tiff and Paul hosted and let all the kids come over and play while the adults played games.
It was a much needed night out with lots of laughing!

Birthday Girl

Keith got up early to make Caitlyn a birthday breakfast before school.
I always stress about making my kids birthdays fun for them.  It keeps getting harder as they get older.  I'm grateful that Caitlyn's friends made it special for her.  She came home from work Thursday night with flowers and balloons.  She also came home with a big smile on her face because she got back together with Cayden that night.  She has been thinking about it for a while now and realized that she broke up with him because she was so anxious about what might happen in the future.  She realized that right now she wants to be with him and they are both happy about that.
Caitlyn's friend took her out for a treat during school.  After school Caitlyn and Hallee had fun painting together.
She was talking about buying more painting supplies so I had her open another present.  I'm glad she enjoys painting so much.
Amarie and Mel came up that afternoon.  The girls went out and got dinner and went shopping.  Tiff came over and brought Tessa. I had fun visiting with my sisters.  Life has been so crazy lately that we haven't had time to just sit and visit. When they left Cayden came over and they had fun hanging out and watching movies.  Caitlyn said it was one of her best birthdays!
On Sunday we had Caitlyn's birthday dinner and family celebration when everyone was home.
Caitlyn chose eggs benedict for dinner.
It was so nice to have a family day at home after the crazy few weeks we had.
Jonah put her present up his shirt instead of wrapping it.  Caitlyn wasn't so sure about that!
Caitlyn always gets so excited about all of her presents.  It is so fun to give gifts to her.
She loved all of her presents from her siblings.
She wanted a red velvet cake for dessert. It was great to spend the day together as a family celebrating Caitlyn. It's sad to think this will be her last birthday living at home.
