Jonah Jonah Jonah

This boy cracks me up.  You never know what he is going to do or say next.  Last week I took him for his five year check up.  The nurse asked me if he was allergic to anything and I said no. Jonah looked at me and yelled, "yes I am Mom, I'm allergic to peanuts."  At this point the nurse looks at me wondering if I'm crazy.  I told her again that he was not and he kept insisting that he was.  The poor nurse just kept looking back and forth at us trying to decide what was going on.  Finally I said, "Jonah you eat peanut butter sandwiches all the time, you are not allergic to peanuts."  Jonah said, "I don't see peanuts in my peanut butter."  That finally convinced the nurse that I wasn't crazy and she had a good laugh about it.  I'm not sure where that came from.  When it was time for his shots he told the nurse that he wasn't scared because he was so tough.  He hopped up on the table and watched her give him the shots.  Once the needle was in his leg he looked at the nurse and said, "ouch that hurts!"  She told him they were done and then he was fine.  He is my tough boy.
Today was Jonah's Halloween party at pre-school.  They did a little costume parade at the beginning.  He has been so excited to be Dash this year.  He tells everyone he is Dash because he is so fast.
That is Jonah in the back of the line with his hand in his mouth being shy.  That is a side of him that we don't see very often.  He was so timid and didn't want to leave my side.  Jonah has had a rough week.  We go to story time at the library and on Monday it was super hero day and the calendar said you could wear costumes.  I told Jonah and he was so excited to wear his spiderman costume.  He was so excited all morning.  When we got to the library he noticed he was the only kid in a costume.  He immediately walked out and said he wanted to go home.  I tried to talk him into staying, but he didn't want to.   Poor kid.  When we got home he said he wanted to go see if his friend could play and I told him to go change and he said, "no I will just wear my costume."  You can never figure that kid out.
Jonah's shyness didn't last long.  He was excited to go inside for his Halloween party.  He had a great time.  His pre-school teacher is great.  She always does such fun things with them.
The boys are outnumbered in his class.  There are only three boys.  I love that they are all super hero's.  There was one other funny thing Jonah said this week.  His friend came over to ask if he could play and I told him to tell her that he couldn't play right now because we were going to eat dinner.  He went and talked to her and came back and told me, "I told her we couldn't play because we need to have an eternal family."
The kids like to color their pumpkins.  They had fun decorating them and we had some old party hats so they decided to put those on there too.  I can't believe that Halloween is already here.  We were in the store yesterday and they had all of their Christmas stuff out and Jonah kept saying, "it's not Christmas, it is Halloween."  On Saturday I gave Keith and the boys haircuts.  Jonah was really excited to get a buzz.  He kept asking me if everyone would love it. Caityn said she wanted me to cut her hair too.  I have done it once before and it went pretty well so I decided to give it a try.  It turned out a lot shorter than we were planning.  Finally Caitlyn said, "mom I don't care if it is even, just don't cut it any shorter."  Luckily she looks cute no matter what and it turned out pretty even, but I think I will take her in next time.

Wyatt's new love

Wyatt has a new love.  Slides!  We took him to the school playground the other day and he loved the slides.  He finally figured out how to climb up the slide in our back yard so he did that over and over the other day.
He smiles all the way down.
He could climb up and do it by himself, but that left leg always got stuck.  He didn't mind, he would just slide down that way and usually face plant on the grass.
He had to clap for himself every time he went down the slide.
Love that cute face!  He loves to be outside.  Whenever we get home from going somewhere he tries to make a break for it (since the kids think they need to unbuckle him).  He cries when I pick him up and take him inside.
Today Jonah had a Halloween parade in front of his pre-school. I lost track of time so we had to rush out the door (that happens way too often lately).  I forgot to grab Wyatt's shoes in my mad rush.  I was trying to hold him, but I finally gave up and let him walk around in his socks.  I love kids in their over sized coats.  He couldn't even get his hands out of the sleeves. He didn't care, as long as he was unrestrained and walking around outside.
I have been excited for Wyatt to wear this Halloween costume.  Jonah wore it when he was Wyatt's age and he looked adorable.  I was a little worried Wyatt wouldn't want to keep it on so we tried it on for fun the other day.
He loved it.  He kept looking at himself in the mirror and laughing.  He loves dogs so it is the perfect costume for him.  He would look in the mirror and say, "da do" (that is his word for everything, but he says it most often for dog).
He was mad when I took it off.  He brought it to me today and wanted me to put it on him again.  This is a good sign, hopefully he keeps it up for Halloween!
Here is a picture of Caitlyn and Jonah the year that Jonah was the dog.  Everyone thinks Wyatt looks just like Jonah. I think they look similar, but I still think he looks more like Caitlyn.  How did my kids grow up so fast?

Fall Weather

I love Fall weather!  I am always hot, so I love the cool weather.  The weather has been great this week.  We have been heading to an outdoor track after we pick up Cailtyn from school.   I ride my roller blades and push Wyatt in the stroller while Caitlyn and Jonah ride their bikes around the track.  We finally bought a jogging stroller this week.  Last week while I was roller blading and pushing Wyatt the wheel popped off our stroller again.  I was about a half mile from the van and had to push him on two wheels back to the car.  Those plastic wheels are just not made to move fast.  I love the new stroller.  Maybe it will help me get out and exercise more.  Maybe!
After our ride the kids like to play in the trees.  Yesterday Caitlyn said, "Mom I wish you had your camera to get a picture of me laying in this tree."  So today I brought the camera.  How am I supposed to cut back on pictures when Caitlyn is always asking me to take her picture!
How can I resist taking a picture of that cute face?  She is growing up so fast.
I'm not sure why Caitlyn's hand is in this picture, it looks like she might have been falling and using Jonah to catch herself.  Jonah loves to ride his bike and he has to make sure that he beats all of us.  Everything is a competition to him.
Jonah used his birthday money to buy a new basketball and soccer ball.  He is so excited to start basketball soon and wants to practice all the time.  I figured the hoop would be to high for him, but he made five or six shots.  It was fun to shoot baskets with him.
Wyatt loves to play outside.  We were at the park for over two hours and then we came home and played outside for another hour and a half.  Give Wyatt a stick and some dirt and he is happy!
I can't believe I got a few pictures of Wyatt looking at the camera and smiling today.  He shows his stubborn side whenever I pull out the camera, he grunts and turns away from the camera.  I love his eyebrow lift with his smile. I love digital cameras, that way I can take fifty pictures to get the one smiling picture! We grabbed a pizza for dinner and ate it at the park.  Wyatt loved it because he would walk around and play and then just come over and get a bite when he wanted one.  I loved it because I didn't have any dishes to wash!

Bus Ride

Today we went on a bus ride with Jonah's pre-school class.   This field trip kept getting postponed because of bad weather, so he has been looking forward to this for a while.  Here he is with his friend Lincoln.  These two met in pre-school and have really hit it off.  It is probably because they both have endless energy, they are a good match!
Wyatt got to tag along with us too.  We had to walk a little ways to the bus stop so I used the Bjorn for Wyatt.  The Bjorn has been a lifesaver for us.  I have used it a ton with Wyatt.  I wanted one with my other kids, but we never bought one because they were so expensive.  I found a great deal on one before I was  pregnant with Wyatt and I have loved having it.
After the bus ride the kids played at the park for a while.  The swings are always a favorite. Jonah loves pre-school.  I'm really glad we decided to put him in.  I think he loves feeling like a big kid and having his own thing.  There was this cute little girl in his class that kept talking to Jonah from few seats in front of us and Jonah would yell, "are you crazy," in a weird voice and she would laugh.  Jonah said he always says it to her because it makes her laugh.  He does love to make people laugh.
Here is Wyatt's, "I'm disobeying so I better be cute smile."  I kept telling him not to touch the cars and he just laughs and does it anyway.  It is so great to be respected!
Wyatt had fun playing at the park.  He loves the freedom to roam around and touch whatever he wants.
The kids all got a croupy virus that was going around.  Caitlyn started it off and last week the boys got it.  Caitlyn ended up getting an ear infection and still has a cough that won't seem to go away.  She cried last week when I said she couldn't go to school one day.  What a relief to have her crying because she wants to go to school instead of crying because she doesn't want to go!  Wyatt had to go to instacare and get a steroid because he was having a hard time breathing.  I felt bad because I didn't think he was that bad, but when I was talking to my mom on the phone she could hear Wyatt in the back ground and told me to get him in.  Whoops, thanks mom!  She was a lifesaver and took the other two so I didn't have to take them all to the doctor.
Caitlyn had fun going to her friends birthday party Friday night.  She was so excited when I finally told her about it.  It was a surprise party for her friend Grace.  I didn't dare tell her about it until right before so she wouldn't spill the beans.  They went in their pajamas and watched a movie and played.  Caitlyn loved it and was really excited that she got to stay out late.  My friend brought her home around 10 PM.  It was a little strange to be waiting up for my daughter to get home!  She is in love with the crown she made and has been taking it everywhere.
Last weekend we went to a party at our gym.  They do a little members only party once in a while and the kids had a great time last time.  Keith had to work so I tagged along with some friends.  I didn't even bring my camera because I was so sick of blogging and I knew I had Jonah's party the next day so I didn't even want to mess with pictures!  I take way too many pictures!  Well of course Wyatt is hugging my leg and I wanted a picture of it.  Luckily Emilee snapped some for me.  They are way better than we would have got, so thanks Emilee!
Wyatt has started hugging my leg all the time.  I will be doing things in the house while he is playing and he will come find me and hug my leg and then go off and play again.  I love it.  At one point he wasn't looking and hugged the lady behind me, he was a little shocked when he looked up.  The kids had a lot of fun that night.  They gave out passes to get ten people in for free so tomorrow we are going swimming with my sisters, mom and all of my nieces and nephews.  The kids are so excited.  It will be a great start to the UEA weekend!

Planet Play

On Saturday afternoon we went to Planet Play.  We went there one other time and the kids loved it.  They were excited to bowl again.  It is a small alley that is just perfect for the kids.
Wyatt loved the bowling.  He kept grabbing the balls and walking off with them.
He would walk half way down the lane and then throw the ball in the gutter.  He was having a great time.
Keith and Jonah did the race track.  Caitlyn and I were going to do it, but the line was really long and Caitlyn decided it wasn't worth the wait.
Wyatt kept wandering around everywhere.  He loves to be free and not hold our hands. He liked this dancing game.  I looked over and he was dancing along, it was really cute.
Caitlyn and Jonah love this ride.  You look at a screen and the screen shows a roller coaster or I think they did the jet flight.  The chairs shake and they think it is great.
The kids all liked the merry-go-round.
They announced that they were going to have a dance contest and Caitlyn ran right over.  Keith ended up joining her and they both got some gift certificates for participating.  It was a fun place to take the kids.  We had a great day on Saturday, but oh man was I ready for bed!

The Birthday Party

Jonah had a great birthday.  I asked him what he wanted to do that afternoon and he said he wanted me and Keith to watch him play and ride his bike outside.  So that is what we did.  The neighborhood kids were out playing too, so Jonah had a great time.  That night he picked his dinner.  He decided on hot dog roll ups and tater tots.  First he told me he wanted a peanut butter sandwich, he is an easy kid to please!  That night I went to an awesome meeting where President Hinckley's daughter (Virginia Pearce) spoke.  She wrote an amazing book called 'A Heart like His'.  The book is great and I highly recommend it.  The meeting was great and I'm glad I was able to go.  We always let our kids stay up late on their birthday and play with Mom and Dad, so Jonah stayed up and played the Wii with Keith while I was gone.  I think he had a great day and felt very special.
Today we had a party with some of his friends.  Jonah kept saying that he wanted all of his friends in the whole wide world to come.  Jonah is friends with everyone which is one of the things I love about him.  We had to narrow it down to the ones he plays with on a regular basis because we took them to Lowe's for a building project.  I was excited about doing this, but a little nervous as well.  The kids were all so good.  They were all so patient, I was very impressed with all of them. We are so grateful that we had both sets of Grandparents there helping.  They were lifesavers.
Keith takes the kids for these projects all the time and Jonah loves them.  I'm glad it worked out that they had a project on the week of his birthday. They made monster boxes for Halloween.  The kids were all so excited about them and they were also excited about their apron and goggles.
Jonah was so sweet and said he wanted to invite some girls for Caitlyn.  He likes all of these girls too, but he wanted to make sure that Caitlyn had some friends there for her.
After Lowe's we came to our house for cake, ice cream and presents.  It has been rainy all week and was wet and cold this morning.  I was really hoping to do this party outside, but figured it wouldn't work when I looked outside this morning.  When we came home from Lowe's the sun was starting to come out and it was warm enough for the kids to play outside. They were happy and so was I!  Jonah got spoiled with lots of fun new toys.  My kids know that they get new toys on their birthday and Christmas and the rest of the year they have to save their own money to buy anything they want, of course that doesn't stop them from asking me for things every time we go to the store. They are learning that they really have to decide what they want and save for it because their allowance doesn't go very far!  I think it's good for them to realize that they have to make decisions about what is most important to them and then save for it.  Jonah got so many new toys that I think he will be just fine for a long time!
Keith did a great job entertaining the kids and playing games with them.  Duck Duck Goose is always a favorite.  I was so happy with how the party turned out.  Everyone was so helpful and all of the kids were so good.  I love making a big deal out of birthdays.  They have always been a big deal to me and it is fun to take some time each year to focus on the birthday child and really make them feel special.  It is also good for Caitlyn and Jonah to be excited for each other on their birthdays and be okay with not getting presents and being the center of attention.  It has been fun to focus on Jonah this week.  I'm so grateful he joined our family 5 years ago.

Wyatt the riot

Wyatt is such a funny kid.  The other day I was taking Jonah's picture in front of the door (for some reason I always take their picture in this spot) and Wyatt walked over and smiled (through his binky) for a picture.  He has been a little cranky lately (hence the binky in his mouth).  I assume he is teething, but really I have no idea.  All I know is when he wakes up needing a nap we are in for a long day.
Wyatt loves to play with the phone.  He walks around the house pretending to talk on the phone.
Wyatt loves books.  He is constantly bringing me books for me to read to him.  He will get a few steps away from me and then turn around and back up until he is on my lap.  This book is one of his favorites. It talks about your tongue so he always sticks out his tongue on that page.
Jonah loves to read to Wyatt.  He is such a sweet older brother when he wants to be.
It has been so cold this week.  We had to pull out the sleepers for bed time.
Wyatt loves to play outside.  He gets so excited when I say "shoes" because he knows that means we are going outside.  I think he even said "shoes" this week.  He is looking so grown up.
He had fun sitting by Keith and watching the other kids play the other day.  His favorite things to do outside are kick a soccer ball, play in the rocks or wood chips and look at the dogs next door.
He loves the freedom to roam around.  He loves the playhouse out back.  He is getting really picky about eating lately.  I sure miss my good eater!  He is still happy and easy going, but he is definitely starting to have his own opinions.  He is also getting kind of clingy and shy.  When other people talk to him he will put his head on my shoulder.  He gets into everything and definitely keeps me on my toes.
