We survived Jonah's first year of being a teenager! Honestly, he has been a great teenager. He thinks mom and dad don't know anything, but other than that we really can't complain. He is a great kid who wants to do the right thing.
He has changed a lot this year. He looks more grown up every day. He had a big growth spurt in the last few month. He is getting close to passing me up.
Jonah has also matured a lot this year. He has become more responsible, compassionate and independent.
I have to get on his case for school sometimes, but he really is a hard worker and very dependable. Middle School has been a tough adjustment for him and this online school hasn't helped. Most of his classes are honors classes and for the first time he is really being pushed and challenged. These challenging classes cause him frustration and stress, but I hope it also teaches him perseverance and hard work. I told him I'm much more concerned with his effort than his grades. I'm very proud of him for taking the hard classes and really pushing himself.
Jonah is so funny. He told me the other day that his friends always want him to show them his "freakishly big calf muscle." Why wouldn't they? I asked him how he got his big arm muscles and he said, "I don't want to reveal my secrets."
Jonah is a leader. He is a leader in our house and with his friends. Keith said Peter Young was telling him that Jonah is a leader among the young men, he said the boys will always follow Jonah's lead. Jonah is great at including people and carrying on conversations with people. He is a social person and enjoys spending time with others.
Jonah is a hard worker. He is really good at working hard and then playing hard! He loves hanging out with his friends and cousins. He also loves playing video games, Apex and Fortnite are his favorite.
Jonah is also maturing spiritually. I'm always impressed when he is in charge of scripture reading. He has very thoughtful insights. He is always willing to serve and takes his priesthood responsibilities very seriously.
Jonah still enjoys sports and is very athletic. I really hope he gets to have a basketball season this year!
Jonah is a picky eater. He could eat cereal all day every day. Every time I go to the store he asks me to pick up some more cereal.
I had to put this picture in because this is the look he gives me a lot. For some reason he thinks everything I say is weird and doesn't make sense. I guess that is inevitable with teenagers. Jonah likes to give me a hard time, but I know he would do anything for me.

I love this blog cause I love Jonah and you described him so well! His muscles really are something, aren't they? I loved the picture of the look he gives you a lot when he thinks what you say is weird. That is hilarious and yes teenagers do think a lot of what we say is weird. You are blessed to have such a special son and we're blessed to have such a special grandson!
These pictures are great! Every new pic I thought, “This one’s my favorite!” Jonah is such a cool kid! Great description of his awesome strengths.
