I enjoyed Zions so much that I wanted to go back one more time before the season was over. I asked Mel if she would want to go and visit our girls and go to Zions.
Mel had the idea to go to Bryce Canyon as well. I was excited about that. We left Wednesday morning and drove straight to Bryce Canyon.
Mel planned Bryce Canyon for us. We started at the sunrise point.
The view was amazing.
Mel researched it and read that starting at sunrise point and ending at sunset point had the best views. Our hike started out down hill, we went all the way down into the canyon and then across and back up.
We stopped a lot to take in the views and get some pictures.
Every time we turned a corner we had a new view that I wanted to take a picture of.
The red rock with the green trees and blue skies was just beautiful.
I love a good cave that you can walk through.
It was cool to be surrounded by red rock when we got to the bottom.
The hike back up was brutal! It was a very steep incline.
Mel is a rock star and would go ahead for a bit and then come back down to me. I had to go slow and stop a lot.
I loved taking in this view every time I stopped to catch my breath.
The climb just went on and on. I asked someone on their way down if we were close to the top and he said, "just 25 more switchbacks." I wanted to cry, I thought we were almost done.
This is called Thor's hammer.
I kept thinking we were to the top and then there would be more switchbacks.
I kept slowly making my way up and enjoying the view along the. I may be slow, but I did it!
It felt great to be at the top!
We enjoyed the view from the sunset point. We ate a snack and drank some water before we walked back to the car.
While we were enjoying the view Mel let out a fart that was louder than she was planning. There was a guy near us who looked over and laughed. He said, "blame it on the altitude." We got a good laugh about that for days!
After that we stopped at another look out and went to another short hike, but they were both disappointing after the views we had just seen. We stopped at the gift shop and then headed to Cedar City to our house we rented.
Amarie and Caitlyn were already at our place doing their laundry. They were happy that we bought them dinner and that they got to do their laundry for free.
I took a quick shower and then enjoyed visiting with Caitlyn. I was so tired and excited to get to bed early that night after the girls left.
