Jonah's Life Lately

Jonah and Kyle went to FSY in July.  This is the one and only picture Jonah has from FSY.  A bird pooped on Kyle at the dance, definitely picture worthy.  Jonah said he enjoyed it, but I don't think it was as exciting as the other two times he has gone. I'm glad he has already gone twice, I think by the time they get to this age, it's just not as enjoyable as when they are younger.
I checked them out Friday afternoon so they could go to a concert.  It was Jonah's first concert and he loved it! They saw The Roots.
In August our stake took the seniors on an early morning hike.  They met at 2 AM and hiked Mount Timpanogos.
I was surprised Jonah wanted to go, but he was excited to go with Kyle, Christian and Maddox.
Trent Beesley was one of the leaders that took him so he sent us some pictures. Jonah said it was really hard, but he was glad he went.
I know he was exhausted.  He had a football game the night before and just didn't go to bed and went straight on the hike.
Jonah has started going to the temple a lot.  Some friends invited him a few times and then he started going on his own.  I asked him what made him want to go all of the sudden and he said, "I like how I feel in the temple.  It's nice to focus on what is important."
Jonah decided that he wanted to get his patriarchal blessing.  He made an appointment with the bishop and then with Patriarch Burningham.  I was impressed with how seriously he took it.  He said he wanted to go to the temple a few days before and he fasted the day of the blessing.  It was a wonderful experience.  Jonah loved it and Keith and I loved being there with him.  I've always known Jonah is a special boy with amazing potential and his blessing confirmed that. He will do a lot of good in this world.
Jonah is still living his best high school life with his friends.  Here he is all dressed up for draft night for fantasy football.
Jonah, Maddox and Oliver met their old seminary teacher for lunch.  This is the only seminary teacher that Jonah has loved.  I'm so grateful that even though he has moved schools, he still cares about these boys and has a good influence on them. Jonah has decided that he wants to serve a mission. He said he wants to put in his papers in a few months and plan on going right after High School.  I have seen a big change in Jonah since Cody has been on his mission.  I think Jonah has realized that he wants that too and has been more drawn to spiritual things. It's fun to watch.
Here we are at the Mother's dinner for the football team last week. I love that his coaches do this. They really are teaching these boys to be great men, not just great athletes.
They highlight the seniors every Friday on Instagram.  I know I'm bias, but my goodness he is a good looking guy.  Jonah is doing awesome and enjoying the season.  They have had a harder season this year, but Jonah is doing great and nailing his kicks!
Matt, Lori and Elena were in town for the Green and White game.  It was so fun to have them at the game with us. Grandma was excited to come with them and watch Jonah too.  He played great and loved having all of the family support.
Jonah is already a month into his senior year.  I'm having a hard time because I know how quickly the senior year passes.  Jonah and his friends decided to be funny for the yearbook photos. Jonah gave himself a black eye and black teeth for the photo.  His friends dressed up like mimes and they wouldn't let them get their pictures like that, so Jonah went with something more subtle.  They are funny boys.
Yesterday Jonah and his friends sang Called To Serve at Jacob Luke's farewell.  It was really cool!  Jonah has been blessed with great friends.
