Jonah had his last soccer game on Saturday. He has been a little intimidated this season because he is playing with older kids. Things usually come easily for Jonah, so he isn't used to having to work hard for things. He is developing a bad habit of not wanting to do things if they are hard or scary. I have been pushing him this season because I know he can hold his own with these older boys if he would get over his fear.
He loved having Keith for his coach. Keith had fun playing against all of the kids during their practice. Jonah has scored a few goals this season and he always steps up his game after he gets a goal. I keep telling him that I don't care if he gets any goals as long as he plays his hardest the whole game.
I love how Jonah is leaning on Keith. Jonah started out the game pretty timid. There is one boy on Jonah's team that is really aggressive so Jonah hangs back and lets him take over instead of getting in there and fighting for the ball.
In the second half Jonah scored a goal. Here he is giving me the thumbs up on his way back down the field. After that goal he seemed to have the confidence he needed to be aggressive. He was all over the ball after that, making great blocks and passes and ended up scoring another goal. I love watching him get over his fear and play his hardest.
Here he is getting his medal from Keith.
He loves sports and I love to watch him play. It was great to end the season on a high note. He is already planning what sport he wants to play next. I'm trying to figure out what we can handle with a newborn!
