I have been thinking about going to the Brigham City Temple open house, but I have been so distracted that I kept forgetting to get tickets. On Thursday I finally got online to get tickets and realized that we only had one option, Friday evening. We decided it was important enough that we needed to make it work. Cailtyn and Jonah have been to two other open houses so they knew what to expect and they were really excited.
We decided to make it a fun night and get the kids happy meals on the way down. I thought I had planned it through pretty well, what I didn't plan on was rush hour traffic. We ended up being in the car for two hours. Wyatt was not happy. He was crying and saying he wanted out for the last 45 minutes. Luckily Hallee slept the whole way down. When we finally got there we had to park and get on a bus that took us to the temple. Wyatt freaked out and screamed for the whole bus ride. He was literally on the floor kicking and screaming. Keith was taking care of him and I was holding Hallee. All of the sudden I realize that there is poop streaming out of the side of Hallee's diaper. I look in the diaper bag and realize I only have two wipes. I grab them to try and stop the mess from getting bigger. We finally get to the temple and Wyatt calms down and I look for a place to change Hallee.
I ended up having to do it on the grass and it wasn't easy with no wipes. I'm kicking myself because several times throughout the day I had the thought to put more wipes in the diaper bag and I never did it. I finally get her cleaned up and we head inside. Before the tour we go into a room and watch a video. I was finally relaxing and thought things were finally calming down. Then Wyatt fell through his folding chair, right through the back onto the hard, dirty floor. Needless to say he is screaming. We were able to get him calmed down and at this point all Keith and I can do is laugh. I was debating on staying outside with Wyatt and Hallee, but Wyatt seemed calm so we decided to give it a try. The tour went well. Caitlyn and Jonah loved looking at everything and Wyatt liked walking around in the little slippers they put over our shoes.
Near the end of the tour Hallee started getting really hungry and fussy. After, we grabbed a quick cookie took a fast picture and hopped back on the bus so we could get back to the car.
We didn't even get a good picture with the temple in it, but oh well. Hungry baby is more important than a picture.
Wyatt liked the bus ride back. It was so much nicer without a screaming two-year-old. I fed Hallee in the Walmart parking lot while Keith took the kids in to pick a treat for the way home. We were hoping it would help Wyatt not cry the whole way home. It worked until his treat was gone. Hallee screamed for the last 45 minutes of the drive and Wyatt was next to her crying saying, "Hallee cry, no stop it." It was quite an adventure. It was definitely worth it though. Caitlyn and Jonah loved seeing the temple and I hope they will remember the spirit they felt there.
