On Saturday we were able to go to The Live Nativity in Alpine. We had to get tickets back in October. Katie told us it was great so I got on right away and got tickets. It was really cool.
Caitlyn loved petting the horses.
They told the story as we walked along and there were a ton of people acting out different things. It started out with Roman Soliders who were the tax collectors. They asked Wyatt for money to pay his taxes. I wish I would have taken a picture of them, they were really good.
The kids all loved petting the different animals.
They had this big barn set up to look like a market. They had shepherds, sheep and camels. They also had a lot of people at different booths doing different things like; weaving baskets, making bread, spinning wool, kids sawing wood and kids playing games.
Each station had a sign giving information about how things were at that time. Wyatt loved to read the signs.
This picture doesn't do it justice, but you can see the market behind the kids.
As we left the market the three Wise Men were waiting for us. They talked about their journey and the significance of their gifts that they were giving the Christ Child. They let the kids touch and smell their gifts.
After that we stopped to listen to french horn players. They were playing Christmas hymns. This was right before we walked into the manger and it set the tone perfectly.
Our last stop was the manger. It was very touching to see a live baby Jesus. Everyone was very quiet in there and you could definitely feel a reverence in that stable.
The kids were not excited about going and they were pretty grumpy on the ride out there, but they all loved it and said they were glad we went. I'm glad we were able to go.
