Easter 2018

We had a wonderful Easter weekend.  The Easter bunny usually leaves the kid's Easter baskets on Saturday morning.  The kid's were excited to wake up and find them.
Caitlyn and I went shopping and decided to surprise Keith with an Easter basket.  He was surprised when we told him that he had a basket to find too.  Later Hallee brought me two quarters and told me she wanted me to have them since I didn't get an Easter basket, it was so sweet.
We also did our Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  The kid's love that we put quarters in them instead of candy.
We also dyed eggs on Saturday.  The kids loved mixing all of the colors.
They were proud of their finished products.
I love when Easter falls on the same Sunday as General Conference.  We set up downstairs on Sunday morning.  The kids all had some new coloring books and crafts from their Easter baskets.  They had fun working on those during conference.  It was really cool to have a solemn assembly and sustain a new prophet  I loved watching President Nelson's face as he was sustained as a prophet.  I love to hear him speak and I'm amazed that he is 93-years-old.  It is great to have a healthy prophet again.
The weather on Sunday was amazing.  In-between sessions we went to the parkway to go for a walk.
The boys loved climbing trees.
Caitlyn had fun dipping her feet in the river.

We ran into the Toone's.  The kids had fun throwing rocks together. After that we went home for the second session of conference.  There were so many wonderful talks, I have to listen to them a couple of times to really soak everything in.  Especially since I dozed off a few times on Sunday.
After conference we ate a nice Easter dinner.  After that we had a special family home evening lesson where we talked about the last few days of Christ's life and His resurrection.  It was a great reminder for me about how much He has done for us and how amazing it is that He was willing to do it for us. I keep thinking about how I feel like I have to be right all of the time and I need to be heard and validated especially when things don't seem fair, but Christ received the ultimate unfair treatment and he didn't open His mouth.  He didn't feel the need to defend Himself or get people to see His point of view and he was able to forgive the people who were dishing out the unfair treatment.  I hope and pray that I can develop those qualities and become more like my Savior in those ways.  I also love that because of Him, nothing is final.  We can always change and we can always try again, even death isn't final, we can keep progressing after this life.  I'm so grateful for the Savior and the hope He gives me.
After our lesson we went back outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.  Keith and I played basketball out front with Jonah for a while and then we all joined Caitlyn, Hallee and Wyatt in the back yard.  I loved playing soccer with the kids and just watching them have fun playing together.  Hallee and Wyatt loved playing with blankets on the trampoline and Caitlyn loved swinging.
After that we had a family football game.  It was me, Keith, Caitlyn and Hallee against Wyatt and Jonah. It was such a fun evening.  I love when we are all relaxed, happy and just enjoying time together.  We couldn't have asked for a better Easter Sunday.
