I've been a little nervous going into summer break because it doesn't feel like other years, where we are all ready for the break from routine. The kids shortened school schedule was really hard this year. They were home so early which meant there was a lot of free time. Well, ready or not summer break is here, so we might as well enjoy it! Once we started planning trips I felt much better about our summer break.
We kicked off our summer break at South Fork last week with Tiff and Katie.
Spending the day in South Fork made me excited for summer. I love summer days in the canyon.
I love seeing all of the fun, creative things that the kids find to entertain themselves. They worked on building forts while we were there.
Hallee wanted to show me her fort.
I loved visiting with Katie and Tiff while the kids played. I hope we have lots of summer days in South Fork!
On Thursday Caitlyn and I went to Ataiya's graduation. They started at 9 AM because it was outside and it has been so hot. It was so hot, but it was great to be there to celebrate with her.
We went and grabbed some lunch and then headed to Alexys' graduation. Hers was indoors, but we sat in the balcony so it was still really hot! Alexys was so excited about graduation. Jen came to my high school graduation so I thought it was cool that I could go to Alexys. Both graduations had speakers who had immigrated to the United States. Their talks were so inspiring. It was so amazing to hear about how much these kids value education and know it is the key to improving their lives. I'm so grateful to live in such a wonderful country and I'm so glad people can come here and make a better life for themselves.
Wyatt has been struggling with depression lately. It is so hard to watch your kids struggle. Caitlyn is so sweet and so sensitive to how other people are feeling. She went out and bought Wyatt a writing prompt journal that she found helpful and thought it would be helpful for Wyatt.
Caitlyn had an orthodontist appointment last week. Her jaw keeps moving so we are trying to get her bite lined up again. I took Wyatt and Hallee to a nearby park while she was there. We have to get out first thing in the morning because it is too hot later in the day.
Hallee decided that she wanted to get her ears pierced. Caitlyn and I took her to the mall on Friday. She was nervous while she was waiting.
She was so brave and very happy with the finished product.
