Junior Prom for Jonah

Jonah was so excited for prom.  It was his Junior Year and he was going with his girlfriend, so it was perfect.  He picked up lots of shifts and worked hard to earn enough money to buy himself a new suit.  He looked sharp! He worked a lot to earn money to cover the whole cost of prom on his own and it was not cheap.  Since Keith is out of work he didn't even ask us to help, he just picked up shifts to earn the money he needed.  I'm proud of him for working so hard and being so gracious about us not helping him pay.
He had a hard time finding a group, but it all came together in the end.  He went with some of his friends from Lacrosse. They went to Boondocks for their day date and then to Thanksgiving point for pictures.  I was able to get them reservations at an Italian restaurant, everywhere was booked so it was hard to find a place. We drove over to the Provo Library to watch the Promenade and Jonah and Sawyer were in front of us so we got to walk in with them.  They looked amazing!  They had to leave dinner before they got their food to make it in time. Jonah was prom royalty so he had to be there early.  He was a good sport about paying for a meal that they never got to eat.  He said they did get appetizers, so at least they weren't starving.
The rest of the prom royalty wasn't there on time so they didn't do that at the beginning like they were planning.  Jonah walked down with Sawyer first.
There were so many people there so I couldn't get close enough to get a good picture.
They looked great and didn't slip.  So many girls slipped down the stairs.  Luckily they all caught themselves, but I felt so bad for them.
At the bottom of the stairs they both paused and did this.  The pictures they had taken earlier in the day looked way better than the one I got.
We made Hallee and Wyatt come watch with us.  They weren't thrilled, but I think they enjoyed it for a while.  It was long, so they started getting restless.
They waited until almost the end to announce the royalty.  The Junior class got to vote for anyone they wanted to and then they took the top five boys and top five girls and voted on those. I know Jonah really wanted to be prom king, but when the voting got down to the five boys he told me he wanted Lucas to win prom king.  Lucas has down syndrome and it melted my heart that Jonah wanted him to win because I knew that Jonah really wanted it too.
You can see Lucas at the top of the stairs, he won! Jonah got the most votes after Lucas, so he was the first attendant. I'm so proud of Jonah that he is so kind and realizes what is most important. I've always told Jonah that he is a leader and he doesn't think he is. I told him that getting so many votes shows that he is a leader and that he is kind and I'm sure proud of him and the good person that he is!
I pushed through the crowds to get to Jonah and get a picture of him with his sash.
We got a quick selfie.
Kyle was 2nd attendant.  He and Jonah realized that they bought the same suit that night! So fun that they both were prom royalty.
I snapped one more picture of Jonah and Sawyer and then they went into the dance.  They had a great night! I'm so glad he had such a memorable prom!
Their pictures turned out so cute!
They had fun with their group.
The boys!
Sawyer's dress was so pretty!
I'm glad it was a nice, warm day for pictures and the promenade.
They really are a good looking couple!
Ha!
I love this one of Jonah.  He sure is a handsome guy!
I loved Jonah's caption on Instagram.  He said, "Well I didn't get king but I won because I got to go with my QUEEN."  He is so sweet! Sawyer is a lucky girl!
