Monday we headed up to the canyon. We usually go for dinner, but we decided to do a hike in the morning and then stay for lunch.
Wyatt wasn't sure about the back pack when we first put him in, but he got used to it pretty quickly. He was able to catch a nap on the way up and on the way back down. When he wasn't napping he was trying to grab every branch or leaf he could see.
Lindy hiked up with us. Caitlyn was thrilled. She loves to play with the older girls. All of the kids did so well. The hike was two miles up and two miles down and there was very little complaining.
Jonah didn't complain at all. Caitlyn wanted to quit a few times, but she was proud of herself when she made it to the top. We were all happy to see the top!
It was a great hike. It felt good to make it to the top and enjoy the view. On the way down we did get stopped by a police officer who said Keith matched the description of a flasher who was on the loose. I just laughed and said, "if you only knew him you would know how ridiculous that is." He told us that since Keith was with us the whole time he would let him go and just took his information. We think Lori saw the flasher, thankfully dressed at the time, and apparently he looked nothing like Keith. Seriously, what is wrong with people!
Luckily Gary and Julie and Tiffany had some food for the kids to eat at the top because I was completely unprepared. They were so happy with their snacks on the way down.
After the hike we had lunch and spent some time playing in the canyon. Caitlyn has had a great time playing with Elena these last couple of weeks. They love to play barbies and princesses.
The kids love throwing rocks in the water.
Our favorite thing to do in the canyon is make smores.
By this point I was ready to go home. Wyatt was fussy and I was so dirty and sweaty I couldn't stand it anymore.
We ate the smores and headed home for showers. It was a fun day. I'm so grateful for showers!
