Caitlyn finished Kindergarten last week. I can't believe how fast this school year went by. It seems like only a few weeks ago that I was dropping her off for her first day of school. She has done so well this year. She received an award for 100% attendance and a medal for always following the school rules. Her teacher told me that Caitlyn is one of the kids she can count on to always be on task and well behaved. We are so proud of our little girl.
I went and helped with field day earlier in the week. Caitlyn had fun drawing with chalk and blowing bubbles.
She refused to try running through the sprinklers. Finally I talked her in to trying it and her friend grabbed her hand and took her in.
She loved it. She spent the rest of the day running through the sprinklers. Caitlyn has always been a shy, but she really came out of her shell for a while. Now she seems to be going back to being nervous and shy a lot of the time. It is so hard as a parent to see her miss out on things because she is so nervous. It is hard to find a balance of pushing her, but also letting her be herself.
This is Caitlyn's good friend that she met at school this year. Her name is also Katelyn. They are such cute girls. I'm glad she picks such nice girls to be friends with.
My friend asked me to help give the kids a little graduation party after school on Friday. It was fun. The kids were all so excited, it was fun to watch them together. I was really disappointed that Catilyn didn't even have a program or awards assembly or anything at school, so it was fun to have the party.
Jonah was thrilled that he got to tag along. He kept saying, "are you sure I get to go to the party mom?" They had fun playing water games and eating lunch. It is hard to believe that I have a first grader now. I'm glad we have summer vacation before I have to send her to school all day.
