We have been debating for months about taking a vacation this summer. We had limited time frames that would work with school and work schedules and we didn't want to spend a lot and really just wanted to relax. We decided Arizona was the best trip for us. My brother and his wife live there and we were really excited to go visit them and see their new house. Caitlyn and Jonah were excited to see their cousins, so everyone was happy. Thank goodness for modern technology. I don't know how our parents did it without t.v.'s in the car. We borrowed a double screen DVD player from friends and used our single one for Wyatt so everyone was plugged in. That made the car ride so much more enjoyable!
Wyatt was all smiles in the car at first. I was so excited that he pooped while we were stopped at a gas station and thought wow this is working out perfectly. Then about ten minutes after we left that gas station Wyatt threw up. Oh man, did he throw up! It was so gross and we were on a highway that didn't even have a spot to pull off to the side of the road. We finally found somewhere and got it all cleaned up. He seemed to be acting fine, but I was careful about what he ate after that.
We decided to keep him in his diaper instead of getting him dressed again. Luckily he slept for a while, but a few hours later he threw up again. I don't think anyone likes cleaning up throw up, but I'm one of those people with a weak stomach that really doesn't like it. After the second time, I sat in the back with him holding a Tupperware in front of him and driving him nuts putting it in front of him all the time.
I told the kids they had to take a nap if they wanted to stay up and play with their cousins that night. Caitlyn took a nap, but Jonah wouldn't.
Jonah did crash on the way home though. I think the week finally caught up with him and he was able to sleep.
I was nervous when we arrived at Matt and Lori's that Wyatt might have a bug. I didn't know if he was car sick or something else. We watched him close that night, but he was fine so I guess he gets car sick. We researched what we could do for him for the way home and talked to a pharmacist and she recommended benadryl. She said it has something to calm their stomachs and it makes him tired so even better. He has also had a rash for a couple of weeks, so it was good all the way around. The benedryl worked because he didn't throw up on the way home. Hallelujah!
Wyatt had a great time in this walker. Matt and Lori's house has a lot of tile so he could scoot around the house and he loved it. When he started to get bored we would put some snacks on there and then he was happy again.
He loved all the cupboards and drawers that they had. He climbed in this cupboard and was a little alarmed when I shut the door until he realized I would open it and it was a fun game. He also tried to climb up the stairs any chance he could get. He doesn't try to go down stairs very often, but he loves to climb up them.
Cody and Jonah were just two blurs running from one thing to the next. They loved playing dress up, cars, Lego's and video games. These two get along so well. It was fun to watch them have so much fun together.
Caitlyn and Elena loved playing dolls, princesses and dress up. They are both so girly and have a lot of fun together. We had been driving for about an hour on the way home when I looked back and noticed Caitlyn was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she started sobbing and said, "I miss Elena." Poor girl, she is so emotional. She insisted she wouldn't miss us if we left her in Arizona.
