County Track Meet

Last week we had two track meets.  They went so much better than the first one!  I knew what to expect which helped, and Keith was there which was the biggest help.  Caitlyn ran the 50 and the 200 and did the shot put in the first meet.  I was proud of her for doing the 200.  She had to push herself and she did great!
Caitlyn likes doing the shot put.  Luckily her cousins taught her how to do it because I didn't know much about it.
Jonah ran the 50 and the 400 and did the shot put in the first meet.  He did great in all of them.
Jonah was also taught how to do the shot put, but he doesn't like to listen so he did it wrong the first time.  They get two throws so he did it right the second time.  He is so hard to teach because he is sure he knows everything so he doesn't need to listen!
We found out that Jonah took 3rd place in the 400 and Cailtyn took 5th in the shot put in their first meet.  They were so happy to get a ribbon.  We are still waiting on the results from their second meet.
This is the set up that made the track meets so much more enjoyable.  That huge umbrella was a priceless gift from Mel!  It has been so hot this year.  We would hang out in the shade with cold drinks until it was time for the kids to race.
It was so much better for Hallee.  She could walk along things and play and she was so much happier!
She had fun playing with grandma and grandpa.  Friday was the county track meet and we were there for almost five hours.  This set up made it work.  Wyatt loved to walk around and spray me with a water bottle and Hallee was usually happy playing.
Caitlyn got to race with Amarie again for the county meet.  They did all the same races, the 50, 100 and shot put.  Love these girls!
Jonah liked doing track with Dante.  They wanted to do the same races too.
I am so proud of Caitlyn for pushing herself.  She built up her endurance and her confidence during track.
Jonah ran the 50, 400 and the 800.  He wanted to do the 200, but I made him do the 800.  I knew he could do it and I wanted him to push himself.  He likes to run away from anything that looks hard.
The 800 is twice around the track.  He did it with no problem.  He was really proud of himself when he finished and even admitted he was glad he did it.  Thank goodness because I wasn't sure if making him do it was the right thing or not.  I told Caitlyn to tell him good job and she ran over and picked him up.
After our long, hot night we headed to Sonic for shakes.  It was a fun way to celebrate the ending of track.  The kids thought it was so cool to be out after dark buying ice cream!
