Easter 2015

When we got home from our train ride on Saturday, Keith immediately felt sick and ended up with a horrible flu.  He felt horrible the rest of Saturday and all day on Sunday.  The kids and I stayed downstairs as much as we could while he stayed quarantined to our room and the bathroom.  Miraculously none of the rest of us got it.  On Saturday the kids and I left and got dinner at Sam's Club and did some shopping so we would have everything we needed to make our own Easter dinner since I knew we wouldn't be going to my mom's.   On Saturday night I got everything ready and hid all of the eggs for the kids.
The Easter bunny brought them all these Easter baskets with playground balls in them.  I think he got a really good deal on them last Easter!  Jonah was confused because their Easter baskets, which the Easter bunny usually fills and hides were sitting on the kitchen table.  Finally they figured out that the Easter bunny brought them new baskets.  They all had fun finding their baskets.
After that we did an Easter egg hunt.  Keith sat on the couch and watched, but he was pretty miserable.  The kids loved finding all of the eggs.
This year we put quarters in the eggs instead of candy.  They always get too much candy and I end up eating too much of it, so we took the money we would have spent on candy and put quarters in the eggs!
After that Keith went back to bed and the kids and I played.  They all made caterpillars out of our Easter eggs.  They turned out so cute.
The kids and I watched conference downstairs.  I decided to try some treats to help them listen for certain words.  They were pretty excited about that and paid attention for about twenty minutes.  After that they were so loud that I could hardly hear.  Hallee was napping during the second session and Keith was awake so I watched it with him upstairs.  The older kids played downstairs while conference was on in the background.  They ended up getting more out of that session then the one where I bribed them with candy!
I made a yummy Easter dinner.  Easter dinner is one of my favorite meals of the year.  I would pick ham over turkey any day.  Wyatt and Hallee helped me peel eggs for the deviled eggs.  I was really proud of myself for making a nice meal.  We are always at our parents for holidays so I have never cooked a big holiday meal.  It was all pretty simple stuff, but it was really good!
Caitlyn and Jonah were really disappointed that we couldn't go to grandma's but they had a great time playing in the backyard most of the afternoon.  They love to climb our tree back there.  I wish Keith wasn't sick, but all in all the day wasn't bad.  It was nice to stay home and take it easy.
My mom gave the kids their Easter eggs from the hunt she does every year.  We did that last night and the kids loved it.
Wyatt and Hallee have been playing Easter today!  We had fun doing all of our traditions and taking time to focus on Christ and His resurrection.
