One of the reasons I love to blog is because it helps me remember to capture the seemingly small moments and realize what I want to document and remember. I always capture the big moments and fun activities we do, but I think the things I will want to remember most are those sweet moments that are small, but significant.
Last week we had Stake Conference. We watched the broadcast at our building in the relief society room. I loved looking over and seeing Hallee on Jonah's lap. These two have a special bond. Hallee adores Jonah and she loves the special attention he gives her. Jonah is always willing to help and comfort Hallee.
I was reading Hallee a bedtime book when she put her arm around me. I yelled to Keith to come take a picture, I knew I wanted to remember this. She kept her sweet, little arm around me the whole time I read. I read longer than usual that night!
It's easy to stay home and watch TV or get things done when Hallee gets home from school. She is happy to stay home which makes it hard to motivate myself to get out or do a fun activity together. I decided we couldn't let this great weather pass us by last week so we went to the park one afternoon.
The weather has been perfect. It was great to only have one child instead of four kids yelling, "mom watch me, mom come over here." I was able to follow Hallee around and do whatever she wanted to.
Jonah came up in the middle of the night Thursday night and told us he threw up. We went down and were not happy to see that it was all over his carpet! Keith is awesome and got right in and helped me clean it up. It took a long time! We cleaned it up the best we could, got the laundry going and Jonah got in the shower and we got him set up on the couch upstairs. Keith got up with him one other time, but luckily that one didn't have a mess to clean up. Jonah was so sick on Friday, he just laid around and didn't even want to stand up. Poor kid, it is strange to see Jonah laying around. I was really weak and light headed when I woke up on Friday so Keith went late to work. He is amazing. He got the kids to school, went and rented a carpet cleaner (which he used to clean most of the carpet in the house) and then went and read to Hallee's class because she was the spotlight student. I was so grateful to him because I would have muddled through it, but I felt awful. After Keith got home with Hallee I assured him that he could go to work and we would be fine. Jonah and I spent the day watching movies together. The other kids were so good and helpful. Keith brought pizza home for dinner that night. Jackson stayed close by Jonah yesterday to make sure he was okay.
By Friday night Jonah felt good enough to eat a little and he was ready for bed. Caitlyn came up after they had gone to bed and told me that Jonah had a nightmare and wanted her to sleep with him, since his carpet was wet from the carpet cleaner she told him that she would sleep outside his door until he fell back asleep. What a sweet sister. I told her and Jonah that I am going to print up this picture for them so they can remember how much they love each other!
Today Jonah was feeling much better, he was back to his old self. I was feeling pretty good too, so while Keith finished cleaning the carpets the kids and I cleaned up the house. All of our rooms get so cluttered! Sweet Caitlyn spent two hours helping Wyatt clean up his room and go through all of the junk he had collected in the last month, that kid is a hoarder! I decluttered our room and we got all of the rooms nice and organized. Caitlyn is the only one that keeps everything nice and tidy all of the time. It is surprising because she used to be just like Wyatt.
After that we all went out shopping together. Caitlyn and Jonah both wanted to buy a new blanket and Hallee and Wyatt were hopeful they could find something with their little bit of money. I realized that I had probably over done it and started feeling sick again, but we made it to Walmart and Sam' Club. It was so nice to have all of the help, usually I'm on my own for grocery shopping and usually all of us at the store stresses me out, but it went surprisingly well today. Caitlyn and Jonah both found a blanket they wanted to buy and were so excited to use them to watch a movie tonight. They sat right next to each other the whole time, so sweet! They haven't fought at all this weekend!!
Wyatt asked if we could buy lunch sacks at the store because he and Hallee wanted to make puppets. They got right to work when we got home and were ready to show us their puppet show after dinner.
They put on a great puppet show about Santa and the North Pole. It was so cute!
After that we all watched "Elf" together. It was the best Saturday I can remember for a long time, we got a lot done and no one fought! Nothing beats a great family day!
