After being at the beach with my family I constantly felt like I was forgetting something when I went down to the beach and the pool. Matt and I were always asking each other if we were forgetting anything because it felt so easy to leave the condo.

This picture was posted in the elevator at the condos. I couldn't agree more!

On Wednesday morning I got up and helped Keith and the kids get packed up and they left early that morning. Matt and I dropped Cody off at the church for his camp and then we went straight to Mexico. It took us a few minutes to unpack and the place felt huge with just the two of us. Later that afternoon we went down and enjoyed the view from the pool. Neither one of us ever get tired of that view.

I got into a great routine every day. I would get up in the morning and head down to the beach. I would sit on the chairs in the shade and read until I got hot and then I would cool off in the ocean and then read some more. Someone came by selling Pina Coladas and he went and got it and brought it to me. It just doesn't get better than this!

I really could watch the waves roll in all day.

The water was so refreshing in the morning.
Lori said there are three things you never get tired of looking at; babies, fires and the ocean. I completely agree.
After I got too warm at the beach I would go up to the pool. In the smaller pool they have a wet bar with a bench in the pool. I started sitting here and it was perfect so I could text Keith and the kids while I was in there. I also brought some drinks and snacks down because I was usually in there for a few hours.
Sometimes I would listen to a podcast while I watched the ocean. Matt worked in the morning and usually came down and joined me in the pool in the afternoon. I loved visiting with Matt for hours every day. We never seemed to run out of things to talk about and I think we came up with solutions for most of the worlds problems.
On Saturday morning we both went down at low tide to look at the tide pools.
We saw some fish, but that was about it.
We were trying to figure out what made these holes in the sand.
The amazing thing about staying in Puerta Privada is that the beach and the pool only have a few people there most of the time. I took this picture form the balcony to show the difference. You can see the rental complex next to us has lots of people on the beach, but ours is empty.
On Saturday Matt and I went to La Curva for a late lunch. That was the only time we ate out, which is good because we bought a lot of food for our trip!
Saturday evening we went down to the beach to watch the sun set. Matt and Lori bought these beach chairs that we were excited to use. We got there a little early because the sun was still high and very bright. We set up the chairs and were staring at the sun and Matt looked at me and said, "Is this fun?" We both agreed it wasn't and that became a great inside joke the rest of the trip.
Once we realized it wasn't fun, we turned our chairs toward the water and watched that instead. We were starting to get a little hungry, but since we had a late lunch we didn't want anything big. We decided fruit cups sounded perfect.
Now we were having fun! These fruit cups were so good.
The chairs were perfect. They had zipper pockets on the back and a cooler pouch.
Once the sun started setting we turned our chairs and enjoyed the beautiful view.
It was so pretty.
We sat down there for a while. It had cooled off a bit, so it was comfortable, especially since we were wet from the ocean.
The view behind us was amazing too!
After enjoying the view from the sand, I walked into the water and enjoyed it from the ocean.
It really just doesn't get better than this. Standing in the water and listening to the waves come in at this time of night was amazing.
Monday night was our last night there. We went down to the beach in the afternoon while the cleaners were there. We bought pina coladas and enjoyed the beach chairs. It seemed like a perfect way to end an amazing week.
After the beach we went up to the pool for a while. I snapped a few more pictures as we left the pool for the last time.
This time with Matt was so much fun and so rejuvenating. Matt and I had fun watching true crime dramas at night and the NBA finals.
It was amazing to have quiet time to think, study and focus on how grateful I am for all of my blessings. I am so grateful to Keith and the kids for supporting me and encouraging me to take this time for myself. It's easy to lose yourself in motherhood and forget that you need to take care of yourself too. Keith and Caitlyn both said that they knew I did a lot, but they didn't realize just how much I did until I was gone for a week. They both did so much while I was gone and they both were happy to do it, they are amazing. Thanks Matt for an amazing week! Who would have thought all those years ago that the brother and sister who fought all the time would want to spend a week vacationing together!

Dad kept saying when he heard it was just you two there together "Who would have ever thought they'd enjoy each other so much when they were teenagers and fighting all the time" and we laughed about it and also found joy in it! I loved the sign that you started out with and I could use a little of that. I guess we just didn't spend enough time at the beach in Cancun! Your fruit bowls looked so yummy and so did the pina coladas! I'm so glad that you had such a wonderful time and so glad to see the beautiful pictures that you took. It looks so great and peaceful there!
It seriously looks amazing!
