Back to Life

Our vacation in Hawaii was so relaxing and amazing, but life was waiting for us and we had to hit the ground running when we got back.
We had Jonah's football banquet the night we got home.  We flew over night and then I stayed awake when we got home to get the laundry done, so I was exhausted by that night.  It was nice to have another dinner prepared for us though.  It was really good. I'm so impressed with the mom's who do so much for the football team, it is so much work. The banquet is mostly about honoring the seniors, but they gave out awards for the younger boys too.
Jonah got his letter.  I'm proud of him for putting in the work and the time.  Once he decided this was something he wanted, he started working towards it.  He went to the High School often to practice kicking. He got himself up for the early morning practices all summer and he was careful about what he ate and went to the gym often to be in the best shape he could be. Way to go Jonah!
The next morning Jonah and I had to be up at 4 AM to take him to get his wisdom teeth out.  We found this place that is researching pain medication and they pay you to get them out there.  I thought it sounded like a pain, but Jonah thought it sounded like easy money.  It was up in Salt Lake and we had to go up there for a two hour appointment to make sure he qualified and then he had to stay over night when he got them out.  They wouldn't let me stay, I just had to drop him off.  He Facetimed me after it was over.  He said it was the worst pain he has ever had.  He said they didn't put them to sleep for it, so he could feel it and then they wouldn't let him have pain medications for two hours. He said he was in so much pain.  He said the pain medication helped, but he felt pretty bad all night.  They came in every thirty minutes and asked him to rate his pain.  He couldn't wait to get home! I picked him up and they told me I had to wait because he had a fever so they had to give him ibuprofen, so they had to monitor him for twenty minutes.
Jonah said he thinks he was sick with his typical fever body aches, so that added to his discomfort.  Luckily, it didn't last long, I think he just needed some sleep.  He was so happy to be home in his own bed.  Jackson slept with him while he was recovering. It's so sweet how he knows when the kids are struggling and tries to help.
Jonah got very swollen.  He was frustrated because they wouldn't let him use ice after the surgery so that made the swelling worse.
He ended up missing the rest of the week of school.  He did not want to go with his cheeks so swollen. Luckily he was able to keep up on his school work from home.
Every day we would tell him that he looked a little less swollen, but he didn't believe us. I took some pictures to show him. In the end he said he was glad he did it and it was worth the $525.
It was nice to have Jonah home every night instead of out with friends.  We all hung out in the front room and talked and played games.  I loved it!
The kids have all been playing Brawl Stars lately, so Keith joined so he could play with them.
I love when Caitlyn texts me pictures.  She has been having a lot of fun with her roommates.
I forgot to put Hallee's class picture in the last post.  She still loves having Annie as her teacher.
I got these cute pictures of Hallee and Tessa while we were gone from Tiff, so cute!
Keith and Hallee went to the Murphy-Barth movie night. They had a great time and loved the Wonka movie. Keith even won $100 for posting about it on social media!
Jonah went to the Christmas dance at school.
He took Ava.  She works at Old Navy so they went together to buy their Christmas pajamas so they could use her discount.
Jonah asked me to take their pictures.  We took them at the Riverwoods. It was cold and very crowded! There were a lot of people taking pictures there.
I always get nervous that I won't take good picture, but they turned out cute.
Everybody was cold and wanted to be quick with the pictures.  It was very hard to get all of the boys to look at the camera at the same time.  They were having fun though!
The kids were all very nice and thanked me for taking the pictures. I'm so glad Jonah has so many friends to enjoy High School with.

I'm glad Jonah feels like it was worth it in the end to get his wisdom teeth out that way. I'm sure that was hard during the pain and sickness though. The pictures of the dance are awesome Al! Well done!!
