Pioneer Trek for Wyatt

Wyatt was not happy about going on trek.
He warmed up to the idea by the time it was time to go, or maybe he just accepted the fact it was happening, ha.  The morning he left he drank some Dr. Pepper at 5:30 AM, he knew he was going to miss his daily Dr. Pepper. I dropped him off at the church at 6 AM on Wednesday.
They drove a little over an hour away and started on the trail right away.
Wyatt didn't know anyone in his family, so he was sad about that. He said he got to know them all on trek though and had fun with them.
The first day they went 12 miles. Wyatt said it was very dusty.  He said his upper body hurt more than his lower body.
They stopped for lunch and then kept going until they got to camp.
They had dinner and then had a devotional.
He said the food was great.
The second day they walked five miles and had more activities. Here he is writing in his journal for what they called Sacred Grove.  They had different spiritual activities that they could chose from.
Wyatt volunteered to push the medical cart because it was heavier.  He was happy to be contributing with his big muscles! They had a youth pull that day.  The adults went up the hill before them and the youth came up with all the hand carts on their own.  Wyatt said they all decided to run with the medical cart and they ran up the whole hill.  He said it was pretty cool. They gave the youth the letters from their parents after the youth pull.  They had dancing that night that Wyatt enjoyed.
On the third day they walked 11 miles.  It rained a bit that day.
Here is Wyatt with McKay and David.
The first night he slept in a tent with Oliver, Dallin and Eddie.  After that he slept under the stars with Parker, Shae, Hudson and Dean.  He liked sleeping outside without the tent.  That night they played games and he enjoyed that.
Here is the whole group from the stake.  They walked 5 miles on the last day.
Here he is with his family.  They had pizza waiting for them at the end.
They got home around 4:30 PM on Saturday.  Keith picked Wyatt up.  He hopped in the car while they waited for his luggage. I was so anxious to hear how Wyatt's experience was.  Keith sent me this picture and said he was in good spirits. It helped that Keith had an ice cold Dr. Pepper waiting for him.
Wyatt was happy that Maddox went on trek.  I was too, I knew he would look out for Wyatt.  We sent this picture to Jonah.
I was waiting anxiously for him to get home and ran out to the garage when he got home.  I hugged him and cried.  I'm extra sensitive to having my kids gone with Jonah gone right now, so I was so happy to see him and have him home.
He told me about pulling the medical cart and how trek was a good experience even though he didn't always love it. That sounds just right for trek! I'm so proud of Wyatt for doing this hard thing.  He had to pick someone to trek for and he picked Jonah.  I'm so proud of both of my boys for doing hard things.
Wyatt was so burned.  He lifted his pant leg and I asked how his legs got so tan in pants and he told me that was dirt, so I immediately told him to hop in the shower and he could take his clothes off in there and throw them out to me.  He was so dirty!  I'm grateful that Wyatt was willing to go on Trek and that it was a good experience for him!

Dang, they got a lot of mileage in! I'm so glad it was a good experience for him and that he ended up glad that he went.
