Jonah's birthday was on Monday so it was P-day. It was nice that we got to talk to him first thing. He had a district P-Day in Brussels. The sisters surprised him with this birthday cake and they all sang Happy Birthday to him. He said it was really nice of them to do that. He sent us a video and one of the Elders pushed his face in the cake, ha!
They passed this photo booth thing and had their picture taken.
Jonah said they walked around Brussels and then hung out at the church. He said it was a good day. We sent him some cash through Western Union and he was able to pick it up on his birthday. I'm glad he will finally have some extra money on hand.
Patrick spoiled Jonah and I'm so grateful. He gave him all of this and paid for him at the Chinese buffet.
He wrote "Mon pere de ma mission spoiled me."
Jonah took a quick nap at Patrick's while they were there watching conference.
Jonah said they go to Pizza Hut every Thursday with Patrick. This week they had a big group of Elders.
This is right outside their apartment.
Jonah has loved serving with Elder Pelaez, they get along great.
Jonah's lower back has been hurting him so Sister Cox tried to help him.
Here they are with Julian, one of their friends. Elder Smith met him on the street and he has been coming to the Cox's for dinner. He is going to get baptized in November and wanted Jonah to baptize him, but sadly Jonah will be in a new area.
Here they are with Julian and Bro. Cox photo bombing them in the back. Jonah loves the Cox family. He said they are the best for missionary work. They have all of their friends over for dinner every week and help get them all involved with the ward.
Elder Pelaez with one of their friends. Jonah calls him the awkward guy.
He wrote "oopsie daisy" on this picture. He said they helped someone move furniture from the furniture store to their house. They put this desk on two dollies and it folded in the middle. Luckily no one was upset and they got it worked out with the store.
Jonah sent out an email on his last PDay in Charleroi:
YOOOOOOOOO what is UP friends and fam!
Dude the CRAZIEST thing has been happening these past 12 weeks where my email was broken and it's totally not my fault! Trust me I've tried to send one EVERY week....
FINE I'll admit it I haven't sent one in that long! I know I know, I'm sorry for taking your emails and doing absolutely nothing with them. They've been chilling in my drafts collecting dust. But I'm excited to catch you all up! Shoutout to my amazing mother for the inspiration to type this up!❤️
First off THANK YOU all for the Birthday wishes! I love and appreciate you all 🫶
My time here in Charleroi, Belgium has been nothing short of incredible! This place will always hold a special place in my heart, especially the incredible members. After 3 months here I received news that I'm headed to a little town in France called St Omer! It's much smaller than Charleroi but I'm excited to get to work 😈 Here are some of my favorite things that happened here in Charleroi:
-I visited SO many castles, cities and citadels and they were all so cool! I still don't know my history or what the funky smell is that they all have in common, but they're legitness. I'm so sorry if I'm walking past famous things and I don't know it.
-I was graciously adopted into a family from Madagascar and was given a black name. You're now reading the email of EARL (shoutout Uncle Earl for the inspiration)
-I went to the biggest zoo in Europe! Favorite Pday by far make sure to peep the old photographs for a little Loosli! They had every animal that the 3.0 GPA Loosli brain could think of so I was very content
-I've been blessed to be able to attend 2 baptisms! The spirit was truly there and they are both incredible. I was able to really participate in the teaching for one of them especially. Not a doubt in my mind she will continue down the sacred covenant path.
-BRO the French could actually be frenching a little?? It's coming SLOWLY but very very surely! My confidence now compared to my birth in the mission field has been MUCH higher. I'm sorry if I have a super awesome French accent when I'm back. For now, I miss cheddar cheese.
-I switched companions! I'm about to switch again, but I've been so blessed with Zollinger and Pelaez. They are two absolute HOUNDS and are 2 lifelong friends! I learned so much from the both of them during my training. I was able to talk a lot of sports with Zollinger, and I'm able to talk more music and movies with Pelaez. They are both TOOO troll bro. As far as the work goes we would work hard but it's hard to get people to church because our building is located just north of NARNIA. But we found success nonetheless
-Loosli needs to LOOS some pounds because he gained some thanks to around 5 member meals a week, alongside the fries, waffles, and chocolate. Everyone get your behinds to Belgium and get yourself those 3 things you will NOT be disappointed. And also meet the members of Charleroi 2 because they really are the best ward.
-I have basically gotten a 2nd dad while out here. If you are in the France, Paris mission you know Patrick! He's the goat of all goats. For the past 21 years he has been taking care of the missionaries and helping them with work throughout the entire week. He drives us to church and feeds us after. And COOKS during member lessons. Everyone needs them a Patrick! I'm gonna shed so many tears when I have to say goodbye to him tomorrow. So grateful for all he's done! Nicest guy you'll ever meet. Today for Pday I basically went a little father son date with him and we played on the see saw
(I'm leaving so many things out😠I need to get better at this so I can update you guys better on the key details of every week. STAY TUNED!)
Overall I couldn't be more grateful for the mission and Charleroi. I have gained a newfound testimony of the power of growing our relationship with Christ. I invite you all to really differentiate your relationships between God and Christ. Study the Book of Mormon every day and you WILL be able to understand that Jesus really is your SAVIOR and advocate. And loves you beyond description!
I'm VERY sorry for not updating very much! This is so sad typing this up knowing I have to leave a lot a details out. I'll be going to a 2 man apartment so I'll get more motivation to type these up. You guys probably all forgot I was even out here thugging it but I'm HERE i promise! I'll TRY and make these more frequent
Yo Boi is a lil on the lazy side on Pday! BUT I promise if you guys reach out I will get back to you!
I love you ALL and I'll see you in St Omer! I WONT FORGET YOU CHARLEROI🫶
Elder Loosli
Jonah was excited to spend his last PDay with Patrick in the small town of Dinant.
He loved having this time with Patrick.
It was really hard for him to say goodbye to Patrick.
It looks so pretty with the Fall colors.
Patrick commented on Jonah's Facebook post, "Am missing you already my dear and beloved brother."
They had a great time touring the city and seeing lots of cool things.
He did the teeter totter with Patrick.
Jonah said Patrick has already sent him a few voice memos.
Here he is with the Rosolo family that he talked about in his email. He commented on this picture, "Earl (me) isn't crying YOU are." Sister Rasolo commented on Jonah's Facebook post and said, "no more Earl" with a crying face.
The Van Buyten family from church has had them over to eat every week. He is the police chief. Jonah loves them. They took him out to the restaurant for a goodbye for Jonah.
The Vanbiden’s granddaughter always came over when they came over for dinner and she cried when she found out that we weren’t coming for dinner (since they were at the restaurant) so they took the Elders to see her. Jonah said she loved them and was so excited to see them and put on her princess dress and got to ride in the car with them.
Charleroi has been good to Jonah. He has loved serving in the Charleroi 2nd ward and meeting so many great people. I'm so grateful to all of the members who have taken such good care of him.
