We had fun celebrating Wyatt's birthday last week with my whole family. My brothers were in town so everyone came to our house for a barbecue, swimming and birthday celebrations. We celebrated a lot of the cousins birthday's along with Wyatt's.
We started with the cake. Wyatt wasn't sure what to do when I gave him his own piece. He kept looking at us wondering if we were going to take it away, then he would almost grab it and hurry and pull his arms up like this. It was so funny to watch.
Finally he decided to touch it. He wasn't so sure about having the frosting stuck to his fingers.
Once he tasted the cake he decided to just dig in.
Of course he had to pause to pick his nose for a minute inbetween bites!
I think he was pretty happy with the cake.
Next we opened presents. He wasn't sure what to do. He would try and hold the presents and then just push them off the high chair.
Then he realized he could rip the paper. You can see he was pretty slow and careful while ripping the paper.
All the other kids decided he wasn't being fast enough and they needed to help out.
Wyatt was pretty overwhelmed and just wanted everyone to leave him alone!
He would cry for a minute and then calm down to inspect his presents.
In the end we just let the other kids help him so we could hurry up and get him down. He'd had enough by that point.
The next morning he woke up before Caitlyn and Jonah so he had time to play with his new toys with Mom and Dad. I guess they are more exciting out of the box and without ten kids surrounding him. Now he will be all warmed up for his party next week on his actual birthday!

miss you guys! looks like you are having tons of fun. i want to know what hike you did sometime...maybe someday we can be friends again. ;D my family is finally gone! yea!!
Oh my heavens, is he REALLY a year old??? I know it's so cliche to say, but really where does the time go????
