Caitlyn set up an appointment at the DMV for 1 PM on her birthday. We had a little set back when we found out that she was supposed to take some safety tests online, but she did it on her phone in the parking lot and she was able to go back in and get her license.
The kids were all excited to go get a treat without me. It was weird to see them drive off. I sat home and tried to read my book and not worry. I was relieved to see them pull back in the driveway. Caitlyn dropped the kids off and went to get gas. I was getting really worried when it had been almost an hour. I debated about calling because I didn't want her to pick up the phone while she is driving. Finally I couldn't take it and I called her. We finally got in touch with each other and she was driving around. She said she thought "I'm glad it is my birthday" when she realized she forgot to tell me where she was going or even get permission. It was a good learning experience and now she is careful to ask and tell me where she is going.
Caitlyn went to tennis that afternoon. She was thrilled to be able to drive herself. We had Cafe Rio waiting for her when she got home.
This is a classic Caitlyn face!
After dinner she opened presents.
She didn't ask for anything so she was surprised by everything.
She always gets so excited about every gift.
The kids were all excited to give her their gifts.
Kyle came over for a little while that night and offered to take a family picture. It would have been great to get a great picture, but we got this instead. I love it though because it captures us. Jonah wanted to stand on his tip toes in the back and Caitlyn said no way because then he would look taller than her so she stood on her tip toes. I love that Wyatt is smiling while the rest are watching Caitlyn and Jonah fight it out.
Caitlyn wanted cheesecake and we found these cute candle holders at the store. Caitlyn had a great birthday and she is enjoying her new freedom so much. She loves to go for drives or run to the store. It is going to be great to have another driver in the house.

I love how Caitlyn gets so excited about her gifts and the excitement she shows on her face! It looks like you made it very special for her. It's good she learned a lesson when she realized that you were worried. I'm sure it will be nice having another driver in the house!
I love the family picture!
