We celebrated mom's 75th birthday with a party at her place. They let us use the big dining room so there was plenty of space. The aides got her all dressed up cute for her party. They even cut and curled her bangs. We went a little bit early so Keith could look at mom's TV and fix a couple of things.
Dad took all her church clothes home because mom was asking to get in them every day. The aide thought this shirt was a dress, so she got her dressed in that for the party. Luckily we were there early to get some pants on her before we took her out to the party, ha! The aides are so sweet and genuinely seem to care about mom. The aide felt bad and said she thought the shirt was a dress, I assured her it was fine and we were so grateful for her taking such good care of mom.
Mom was happy to see everyone and gave everyone a hug, but she couldn't stop crying. I know it's hard for the kids to see grandma like this.
Hallee and Tessa planned to wear their matching outfits. I told them I needed a picture and Earl hopped in the picture, ha!
Hallee and Tessa were thrilled to see Zariyah and Clara. They love to play with them. Zariyah and Calra are always excited to play with them and want the girls to hold them, so Hallee and Tessa are in heaven!
Mom was having a very emotional day. She cried through the whole party. I was worried she was overwhelmed so I asked her a few times if she wanted to go back to her room, but she wanted to stay with the family, so I think she enjoyed it.
Jonah and Wyatt were sick so they couldn't come. We have to be extra careful not to bring anything into mom's place.
I worried about having the party for mom since she is so tired and emotional all the time. I'm really glad we did though, I know mom would want us all to get together. She worked so hard to make our family close, so we have to keep it going!
Everyone was so sweet with mom and gave her hugs and told her they loved her.
Lindy helped mom take deep breaths to try and calm down.
It's hard to get mom to look and smile at the camera.
It's so weird that mom is only 75. She has always seemed so young and now all of a sudden she seems so old, but she is only 75!
All the grandkids love grandma. She has been so good about loving them and being involved in their lives. It is a huge loss to have grandma not be able to stay in touch with them like she used to.
The February birthdays. Mom always did such a great job of making sure we celebrated everyone's birthdays.
Mel made mom a beautiful cake and mom loved eating that. I think that was the only time she wasn't crying.
Tessa and Hallee brought a present for grandma.
They painted this beautiful picture for her that she could hang up in her room.
Judah slept through most of the party. I was so glad he woke up so we could see him. My goodness he is cute and growing so fast!
I hope mom felt all of the love that we have for her. She has always been so good at loving people and making them feel important. I hope she knows how much we all love and appreciate her.
I felt bad that I didn't make it to see mom on her actual birthday. We were waiting for Jonah's mission call and Wyatt had a performance. I was so happy when Tiff sent us this picture that morning and said mom was having a good day. They decorated her door and mom liked that.
Dad and Mel went too. I think she had a good day.
