Pre-school Graduation

Jonah had his pre-school graduation today.  He has loved pre-school and said he is really going to miss it.  He had a great teacher and made some fun new friends.  The morning started off a little rough.  Jonah was really cranky and I could tell something was bothering him, but he wouldn't tell me what it was.  In my scatterbrained state, that is becoming all to common these days, I didn't have us leave early enough to get there on time even though we were all sitting there ready to go.  We walked in late so everyone was kind of waiting for us and staring as we walked in.  I thought the other kids would be dressed up so I dressed Jonah up a little and I was a in a dress (only because that is the most comfortable thing for me right now) and Keith was dressed up for work.  We also had a big plant for his teacher.  Well we were the only ones that dressed up and brought a gift for the teacher so it was pretty awkward as we were walking in front of everyone.

Once the program started I relaxed a little and enjoyed the show.  Jonah knew all the words and did a great job.  I love the smile on his face.
Jonah seemed very comfortable up there and did a great job.  Jonah is very outgoing when he is comfortable, but very shy and quiet in new or scary (to him) situations.
I finally found out what was bothering him when it was time for Jonah's role as the big bad wolf in The Three Little Pigs.  His teacher had a full body wolf costume for him and asked me to help him get it on.  I could tell he was trying not to cry so I asked him what was wrong and he said, "there are too many people."  I tried to reassure him, but he couldn't hold it any longer and started crying.  His teacher said he didn't have to wear the costume and he immediately calmed down.  I could tell he was still a little nervous, but he got up there and said all of his lines.
Here he is blowing down the house of one of the little pigs.  I asked him later what he was scared of and he said, "I was scared people would laugh at me in my costume."  I'm always caught a little off guard when Jonah is worried about something like that because he is usually so confident and loves to make people laugh.
Jonah was also the lion in The Lion and the Mouse.  He did a great job and didn't seem to have any nerves on this one.  He also loved doing the hokey pokey, he smiled through the whole song.
Here he is getting his diploma.
It was a fun program.  His teacher has been great.  He has learned a lot and had a great time.
He wrote his teacher a sweet thank you note and gave her some flowers.  She told me that she will miss Jonah and what a fun kid he is.  She also said it was fun having someone that read so well to keep her on her toes.  While we were talking to her Wyatt went ahead and stacked up all the kid's chairs.  I had to stop him from pushing someone out of one so he could complete his self assigned task.  After we took Jonah to lunch.  It was fun to spend some time just focusing on Jonah.
