Easter Egg Hunt

I was driving by a gas station the other day and they had a sign saying they were having an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  I decided it would be fun to take the kids.
The kids were excited.  It wasn't in the best part of town and some of the people were a little scary.  They had it divided into age groups and the oldest one was 9-12.  Caitlyn looked at me with a nervous look on her face when they said this.  The older kids were a little intimidating.  I told her to just stay with Jonah and she was relieved.  I told the kids to make sure all of the kids got eggs.  Caitlyn was sweet and gave half of her eggs to a little girl who didn't have any.  Caitlyn was a little sad about it later when she realized she thinks she gave away a prize wining egg.  The girl she gave it to won a big Easter basket.  Caitlyn was okay with it when we decided that the little girl needed it more than she did.
Hallee and Wyatt were in the youngest group.  Hallee was so excited that people were blowing bubbles while we were waiting to start.
She did not want to wait to start, she didn't understand why she couldn't just go get the eggs.  After it was over she just sat there and ate candy she found in the grass.  Yuck!
Wyatt had fun running to get the eggs.  It was frustrating that a lot of parents were running and grabbing all of the eggs in the young group.  Lame!  The whole fun of it is for the kids to get the eggs.  Were the parents really that excited about jelly beans?
The kids were all excited about their candy and ate most of it in the car before I could stop them.
When we got home our neighbor asked me if the kids wanted to come over and use his bounce house that he had rented for a party that night.  I went over and let them jump for a while.  The kids loved it.  It was sad to be in Beck's old backyard.  It seemed like it was still their house.
After that I took the kids to get their free burgers that they earned from the library.  I was so proud of myself for making it such a fun day for the kids.  Right after lunch I asked the kids to help me clean up and they all started screaming.  I was so frustrated.  I hate that no matter how hard you try, the kids will always be mad about something.  Maybe I spoil them too much.  I love to do these fun activities with them, but sometimes I think they get too much and forget to be grateful.  I guess we will have to keep working on that.

I love Hallee's dress! She looks way too grown up in these pictures.

I can't believe you were okay with her eating candy from the ground, you've come a long way! :)

And we struggle with the same attitude here. Most of the time they're grateful and helpful but when those spoiled moments happen I have zero patience with it! It's so hard to find that balance.
