Road Trip

Last Thursday we spent 15 hours in the car to drive to the Oregon Coast.  I was busy packing and getting ready for a few days before and Wyatt was busy playing in the suit case.  I love this boy!
Gary and Julie invited us to come spend Memorial Day Weekend with them at Otter Crest.  Julie's parents have a few units up there and they let each of the kids have some time.  The last time we went up there was eight years ago.  Caitlyn and Jonah were really young.  Now that I am older I can really appreciate the beauty out there.  It is amazing.  I have turned into that mom that points out every pretty thing to their kids.
I was really nervous about the long drive out there.  We left at 5:00 AM and got to the beach at 8:00 PM Utah time.  It was a long day, but the kids did great.  It went by pretty fast.  We used Sea Bands and Dramamine for Wyatt and he didn't get car sick.  I was so relieved, I didn't want to have to worry about throw up on a long drive like that.   The kids just watched movies and played games and didn't really complain.  Even Hallee did great.  I was so relieved that it went so well.
The kids were so excited when we got there.  They were so happy to be out of the car.  I wish I would have taken a picture of the grounds.  When you turn into the grounds all you see is gorgeous flowers, bushes and trees.  You feel like you are in a tropical forest.  They have a guy that brings over a cart and drives you and your stuff up to your unit.  The kids thought that was fun!
We had to take some extra trips to the car, but once we got everything unloaded we headed straight down to the beach.  You go down a few flights of stairs from our unit and then there is a big set of stairs leading from the parking lot to the beach.  It was raining a little, but we didn't care, we loved walking around the beach.
I have so many pictures, I don't even know where to start.  I guess that is what happens when you have beautiful scenery, cute kids and family you don't see very often.
The kids got right to work looking for shells.
It was really foggy that night so you couldn't see out very far.
It was so fun to see the kids excitement.
Wyatt got the prize for the biggest shell!
It was so great to walk around after being in the car all day.
We walked down and checked out the play ground.  It was pretty wet, so we didn't stop and play.  Everything is so pretty and green out there and they have the prettiest flowers.
The kids were excited to take the tram up to our floor.  I think this is the first time the tram has been working when I've been up there.  Gary and Julie weren't coming until the next day, so after the beach we went back upstairs and got the kids ready for bed.  We could see the beach from our balcony.  I loved sitting out there and just having the door open so I could hear the waves.
