Wyatt really caught the vision of taking advantage of his birthday this year. He was constantly asking us all why we would be doing certain things on his birthday. I had to raise my voice to him yesterday when he wasn't listening and he said, "mom, why are you yelling at me on my birthday?" I used to milk my birthday when I was younger, so it is fun to see the kids do it.
Wyatt's birthday fell on a Sunday this year, which changes things up for us because we usually try and do a fun activity on their birthdays. We had a fun day at home though. We started off opening presents. Wyatt was so excited he could hardly stand it. He would stop and smile at the camera before he opened every present. He is trained!
I love that he sticks his tongue out when he is concentrating.
It was so fun to watch him open presents because he was so excited about each one. He said thank you over and over and told us all he loved our presents.
He was thrilled with his new Spiderman.
Wyatt saw this hand thing at Walmart a few months ago and wanted it so bad! He was so excited to open it. When he opened it he squeezed the hand together and looked at Hallee and said, "give me knuckles Hal." It was really funny.
Wyatt was pretty happy with his new toys.
Yesterday was a bit of a rough day. I am finally feeling better, but Keith was sick yesterday. He got up to watch Wyatt open his presents and then went back to bed. The kids and I played with Wyatt's toys for a while and then I had to go to a meeting. They put me in Young Women's a couple of weeks ago. I'm a little overwhelmed with it, but I think I will like it. I raced home from my meeting to get the kids ready for church.
I did pause for a couple of pictures with me and the birthday boy! I made it through church with the four kids on my own, but it wore me out! Wyatt gave a talk in primary yesterday. I got to see them sing Happy Birthday to Wyatt. He stood up there with the biggest smile on his face and sang along. It was so cute. He was so excited throughout the whole day! I love that.
After church I made Wyatt's dinner that he requested. He wanted chicken and onion potatoes. I was pretty shocked with his selection. Keith tried to help out, but he wasn't feeling great so it was pretty crazy after church. It was nice when we finally sat down and ate. We always take turns saying what we love about the birthday kid. Wyatt ate that up.
Wyatt wanted birthday cookies like Hallee. Luckily he told me last week when I made Hallee's so we just put half of them in the freezer, which worked out great with our crazy day yesterday.
After we had treats I put everyone to bed except for Wyatt.
Wyatt had been looking forward to this all day. He kept talking about how excited he was to stay up late with mom and dad. He was talking a mile a minute about what we were going to do. He wanted to put together his new puzzle that Caitlyn gave him.
We also played a few games. After that Keith went in and laid down and Wyatt and I played for a little longer. I didn't want to put Wyatt to bed. It was so fun to share in his excitement of his birthday and I didn't want it to end. It was also nice to be able to just sit down and enjoy time with him after all of the running around I had been doing all day. We read books for a while and I just rocked him and talked to him for a while. Finally, I gave in and put him to bed. Today he asked how many days it was until his birthday? Funny kid.
