Yesterday we decided to really splurge and go on a Harbor Cruise in Newport, Oregon. I'm so glad we did, it was so much fun.
It was a perfect day for a cruise. It was a little chilly in the wind, but warm in the sun. We could walk all over the boat. I liked being at the front of the boat and really feeling the waves rock the boat.
The kids liked going in the cabin with the captain.
They threw some crab traps overboard. Caitlyn volunteered to put the bait in the traps. They told her to kiss the fish for good luck, she declined that request!
Jonah was thrilled when he found out he could have a turn to drive the boat. He did a great job steering it where he was told.
The captain was really cute with the kids. Wyatt loved driving the boat.
Caitlyn loved everything about the boat ride, she was the first to volunteer anytime they needed someone.
I loved the bridge, the kids thought it was fun to go under the bridge.
We went in the ocean and the river. It was really choppy in the ocean. Hallee got nervous so she wanted to sit inside the boat. Caitlyn sat with her for a little while before I came in and took over.
The boys loved being outside on the boat.
We stopped in the ocean when we saw two whales, a mama and a baby. It was fun to watch them come out of the water and to see them spraying water out of their blowholes.
It was hard to get a good picture because they were only out of the water for a few seconds.
I went inside the boat and sat with Hallee while she was scared. I got a little sick in there, it was much better to be out in the fresh air.
Hallee told me that she wanted to take a nap and a few minutes later she was asleep. It was fun to hold her while she slept, I never get to do that anymore.
I snapped a picture of the rest of them outside the window. They had fun watching the whales.
On our way back they pulled the crab traps in and we got to hold the crabs. Caitlyn was the only one that wanted to hold a crab. Hallee woke up in time to see the crabs, luckily she didn't sleep very long. By the time she woke up we were back in the river and she was fine to walk around the boat again.
Wyatt wanted to put a life jacket on. He loved to stand at the bow of the boat.
Caitlyn, Wyatt and I all loved to be at the bow.
I love this picture. This is the life!
The cruise was two hours long. It was such a fun experience, I'm so glad we did it.
