Todays adventure

I love summer!  I didn't always feel this way, but these last few summers have been great.  I think once I could leave the kids home alone is when summers started becoming more fun than stressful!  This week we have had a nice schedule of sleeping in, doing a fun activity and then taking it easy for a while.
Today we didn't have anything planned.  Caitlyn is still at Mel's so it was just the four of us.  Wyatt wanted to play with his Science set so we did that for a little while.  I saw something online with milk, food coloring and dish soap.  It was really cool.  The dish soap makes the food coloring spread.  We had fun doing that for a while.
I bribed (I mean rewarded them for their hard work) the kids to go on a walk on the parkway.  It was hot, but the shade made it bearable. I love where we live.  I love being so close to the Provo River!
Jonah and I rode our roller blades.
I love all of the big trees.
We stopped to play a few times.  Hallee is such a champ.  We went two miles and she was so hot and tired.  When we could see the van she took off running until she got there.
We stopped in the tunnel to look at the river and enjoy the shade.
Hallee always asks me to take her picture.  I can't say no to that!
After that we went to McDonalds for our reward. They were out of big cones so the kids got little ones, we had a good laugh about that.  Now we are sitting in our nice, cool house watching "Dennis the Menace" together.  Yes, I love summer!
I'm always focused on my short comings, but this week I'm proud of myself for being a fun, involved mom.  It is tempting to check out or chop away at my long to-do list, but we are all happier when we get out and have fun together.  My dishes are piling up in my sink, I'm slacking on my calling a bit, I have put off grocery shopping and getting ready for camp, but hey you can't do it all! Tomorrow we are going to Lagoon and then I will have to spend the weekend catching up and getting ready for camp, but it sure has been a fun week!
