Wyatt got to participate in his first break dance battle. He was thrilled that they changed the date so he was able to do it, originally it was going to be on the day of Caleb's wedding.
It was boys against girls. Wyatt got to perform twice.
The boys and girls lined up on opposite sides of the stage and they would switch off performing.
They would each go up to the opposing team and do their moves right in front of them.
Wyatt did great and did some new moves that he had been working on.
I love how he ended his first performance, he is pointing to the girls, like beat that.
Deon talked about the battle before it started and explained that it is all about confidence and respect. She said they all make up their own routine and it's important that they put their own individual touch on their moves. She said that it is good for the kids to be confident and challenge each other during the battle and when it is over they all give each other respect by high fiving each other. I love the culture and atmosphere at Breakin Circles.
I love seeing how confident Wyatt is and how much he enjoys himself while he performs.
Wyatt worked on a lot of new moves for his routine and he was worried he was going to forget them. He told me after he forgot and that is why he paused. He covered so well, I didn't even know, it looked like part of his routine because he put his hand up on his face like he was thinking and then got right back into dancing. I'm so proud of him for finishing strong after a set back. I love to see Deon cheering him on and encouraging him to keep going. Her son Ben is his teacher right now and her other son Bo helped Wyatt with his routine. They are all so kind and encouraging.
The boys were declared the winner and Wyatt was pretty happy about that!
They all got recognized for something and Wyatt was awarded the Best Floor moves. I'm so grateful that Wyatt has found something that he can work hard at and enjoy so much.
