This week it was Caitlyn's turn for a field trip. They went to the aquarium. A few weeks ago they sent home a note asking for parents to volunteer and said it would be first come first serve because they could only take 10 parents on the bus. I told Caitlyn to take it back the next day and almost two weeks later she found it in her backpack. I figured I was off the hook, but I e-mailed her teachers just in case. Mrs. Weske gave me one of the slots. She is so sweet and worries about Caitlyn so I think she thought Caitlyn might need me there. I told her I would drive, but I ended up on the bus!
It was a long day, but a good day. Thanks to my mom and Mel, I was able to get the younger kids taken care of so I could go. I hate asking for help, but I will do it for my kids. I am really glad I went. Caitlyn kept giving me hugs and said she was so glad I was there, that made it all worth it!
I was in charge of all of the second grade girls in the class. I was a little worried to have seven girls in my group, but they were all pretty good. I only lost one for a few minutes! There is one girl that has a bit of a lying problem. Caitlyn has told me some of the things she tells her and I got to see it for myself yesterday. She had some pretty crazy stories to tell.
We all took turns in the education room where they learned about tides. They played a game that the kids had a lot of fun with. Caitlyn was a crab so she had to walk like one.
Caitlyn was so brave and touched all the fish and a shark in the touch tank. She was so proud of herself. It made her feel even better that I didn't want to touch them and she did!
After the field trip we went to a park for lunch. I felt so bad for the bus driver on the way out there, she kept getting on the speaker and telling all the kids to be quiet. I thought the kindergartners were loud, oh my goodness, I could barely hear the people I was talking to right next to me. I'm glad I was able to go, Caitlyn and I needed some good quality time together.
